Bohannon and Washpun

Just arrived home from the Well and the best shooter on the court tonight was right in Iowa's back yard and he ends up at UNI. Matt B.

Washpun, the quickest guard on the floor tonight was also in Iowa's backyard instead the Hawks are playing Clemmons and Mike G.

What could have been Hawk fans what could have been...

Just because those 2 guys look better than what we have does not mean they are Power-5 conference worthy. In fact, that is our issue currently as we chase every in-state kid. We have a roster full of in-state kids who are soft and cannot get it done.

Anyways, UNI has a roster full of hard nosed instate kids who are getting it done, the point is Iowa has let extremely talented kids head 60 minutes NE and develop into a team who will make the dance this year...Fran went eleswhere and look how that is panning out.

How do you offer Brady Ellingson and let a kid like Lohaus go to UNI?

Ellingson is a good shooter who can probably do the same thing Lohaus does. The thing with these kids like Lohaus is, they want to stick to the big boys who never gave them a chance. Iowa overlooked Lahaus and he along with Bohannon and Washpun wanted to make a statement. Even then, 54 points for UNI isn't to much to brag about either.

I am not impressed with the talent level at UNI. It is going to work because they play in the MVC against one marquee team in Wichita St. We have been really, really bad most of this year especially on offense. They scored a whopping 56 pts.

I am much more impressed with ISU.

Pretty sure there was a guy on here predicting a loss and stated UNI had best guard in Washpun and best pure shooter in Bohannon and a loss to the Panthers.

O yeah... It was me.

Or a kid like Washpun who was hands down the best guard on the court and has more talent then any guard on Iowa's roster and dropped 27 on the road at VCU prior to the game against the Hawks... before the, well, VCU isn't a big 5 conference team posters start flapping their gums. VCU makes the dance this year and has plenty of talent which the Hawks do not...its even worse watching Iowa play Ball in person, wide open shots that aren't even close to going in...remember hawk fans Washpun and Bohannon could have been wearing black and gold, but instead a clemmons from MI and Mike G from NE are in our backcourt...

Ellingson looks like a smaller skinnier version of Uthoff. Lohaus looked stronger and faster.

If I were to rank guard play this game, four of UNI's guards would take spots 1-4.

Maybe 54 points isn't much to brag about.

How 'bout a Win?

Iowa's program is a joke.
Washpun >> Gesell and Clemons
Bohannon >> Oglesby
Tuttle >> Woody
Morgan >> Jok

UNI would finish higher than Iowa in the B1G playing all Iowa players. Washpun, Buss, Lohas, Morgan, Tuttle, and Bohannon are better than any 6 players Iowa can put on the court at one time.

Exactly, the rumor behind the Genesis of the big four classic was Fran's dislike of the so called homerism occuring in Cedar Falls. Well guess what Fran, UNI rolled that *** on a neutral court tonight with 5+ Iowa kids on the roster, UNI and ISU are the premier basketball programs in the state and its going to be that way for a long time...

Gordy Bohannon was Iowa's starting quarterback on the 1981 team that shared the Big Ten title with Ohio State and made its first trip to the Rose Bowl under coach Hayden Fry. Despite that, none of his children are going to play for the Hawks. We lost Jason Bohannon because he despised Alford and his arrogant attitude.

Nobody seemed to prefer Washpun when we had a very good chance to
get Mike Gesell. Can't remember anyone saying otherwise. It was a very big deal to land Gesell which led to getting Woody. Roy Williams was at Woody's house the night before he announced his choice showing him and his family North Carolina highlights.....

No doubt Washpun was the best guard on the floor tonight....

We seem to depend on Mike G too much on offense and there is too much dribbling around trying to find an open player. Perhaps more passing and less dribbling would help getting open shots. Then we have to find a way to make them.....

Every Hawk player was outplayed tonight, again not ready for the game just like Iowa State.....

Could it simply be not inspiring the players to be bloodthirsty berserkers.....

God, that's a disgusting truth.

Not impressed with Lohaus at all. Ellenson may not be a B1G ball player but Lohaus is not either.

Our answer needs to be recruiting Chicago, Michigan, East Coast, elsewhere not NE Iowa.

I'd agree with your statement and expand on it to say, Iowa needs to recruit hard nosed urban kids instead of the mentally weak and physically challenged suburban kids.

This is over-reaction Saturday. UNI would be a tad better than us in the B1G but that is not saying much. This team would fail nearly as bad against better, more athletic competition. If VCU is suddenly the standard bearer of college basketball I would like to know about it. They also make the tourney because they can do well in a non Power-5 league.

Here is a better question if you think UNI is so loaded with talent. Who on their team starts at ISU? That is right, NO ONE. ISU is much closer to a league champion and Final four team than these guys. That is real talent.

Also keep in mind Fran offered Washpun and he turned us down. Keep in mind he did not make it at Tennessee and that is the reason he is at UNI.

Our suckiness makes UNI look average. 56 pts on 6-18 from 3 and 45% from the floor and suddenly we need to start battling them for recruits? Right!

ISU is putting a semi-pro team on the court. Hired guns coming in from all over the place.
UNI is playing student athletes.
I'll take the UNI program, any day.

That is just a front. At the end of the day winning matters. That fills stadiums and gets national accolades not the 'doing it the right way' mantra. When do they hold the 'doing it the right way' final four?
