Bob Stoops Retiring?

Good to see him retire on his own terms after a great run at OK. He certainly is set financially to retire for good but maybe he will take a year or two off and see if he misses the game. He may not even know yet if he wants to take another run somewhere else as a coach or AD. I bet the TV networks would also be interested in picking him up because he is pretty well spoken.

It really was an incredible coaching career. Heard numbers on the radio last night that just blew me away. He had more Big 12 conference championships than home losses while he coached. This was his one and only head coaching job. I don't think he ever had more than two losses in a row. Maybe it was three. Went to a bowl game every year he coached and I think 11 of them were BCS.

Hall of Fame.

Listening to ESPN radio, the theory is he is moving to Chicago (truth) and will wait for the Notre Dame job to open up, I'm still laughing.

Considering it's the second home for he & his wife in Chicago and considering its location; I wouldn't be surprised if they actually do rent them out like vacation rentals.

Yes, and Only 12 guys have been at their programs for at least 10 years....
1 Ferentz-Iowa 1999
2 Patterson-TCU 2000
3 Gundy- Okla St 2005
3 Solich- Miami OH 2005
3 Whittingham- Utah 2005
6 Fitzgerald- Northwestern 2006
6 Stockstill- Mid Tennessee 2006
8 Niumatalalo- Navy 2007
8 Dantonio- Michigan St 2007
8 Baliff- Rice 2007
8 Calhoun- Air Force 2007
8 Saban- Alabama 2007
And, Nebraska has had how many coaches since they fired Solich, 7? Oh how I love Husker hubris.

I wouldn't be shocked to see Stoops do some TV for a while and stay well connected to the game and get back into coaching at some point.

How much would he be willing to put down on that? I'd about double it that he won't.

---------Some are predicting a 4-8 season this year. That happens, and I think the phone call is made to Bob

Should have already been made.

Bob Stoops retired with a record of 190-48 in 18 seasons. Thats an average of 10.5 wins 2.5 losses per season!

Kirk Ferentz at Iowa has a record oc 135-92 in 18 seasons. Thats an average of 7.5 wins and 5.0 losses per season!

Basically Bob Stoops average 3 more wins per season than Ferentz in his career.
