Mike Chappel of the Indy Star on Bob Sanders. Quotes from the Dan Dakich Show. Full podcast at 1070 The Fan - Indy's Sportscenter
"I talked to him at the SuperBowl quite extesively. He is ready to go. He understands the issue of him staying on the field."

"He really needs to (stay on the field) this year. People want to cut him and all this and that, but he is a difference maker."

"I know the injuries and the questions cut into the kid. He is a good kid. He is not playing because he has a little twinge, he has had major injuries....it has not been little things."

I didn't realize anyone implied that his injuries were something he should play through. Not sure they make 'em any tougher than Bob!

My favorite hawk of all time, definitely changed the face of our defense. I hope he plays for another 10 years.

sanders can get some big pay days if he takes care of himself..colts love him and a lot of teams are recognizes how great these hawks are coach and how great of kids they are off the field

Hey, Pin2Win.

Bob already got one big payday. There will not be another. He will be lucky if he isn't one of the guys that gets let go after the June 1 deadline in the next two years. There won't be any BIG guaranteed contract for him going forward. Now, I can see an incentive laden contract based upon games played. But really, how do you plan your D around the guy at this point in his career. The games missed will not trend down at this point. He has missed almost half of the games during his career. Do you think that will change or get worse?

I love the guy, and it's obvious he isn't missing for some little injuries. But he is not durable, for whatever reason. He has proven it. He has also proven to be a HUGE difference maker when healthy.

This is correct...

Sanders' injury history and age (he's now 29) mean that he will not again get big guaranteed money in his NFL career. Or at least it's very unlikely. Safeties can play into their 30s but those who have done so don't have Sanders' injury history. What a player when healthy. Here's hoping he can have a season where he plays in nearly all of the games.

He played with screws in his ankle while at Iowa. I don't think his toughness should ever be questioned. He just had no idea how to play without trying to kill somebody...himself or the opposing player.

No one could stand up to the continued punishment he lays out, not even himself. That's the style he plays, and you're going to get hurt doing it. Most hall of famers in the league are those that are popular and play "smart" to not get hurt, not blow up every play like its their last.

There are tons of players like Bob Sanders that play this style and have injury problems. You just never hear about them because they're not as talented. After a couple years, the injuries mount and they're done.

He eats steak samwiches like they slept with his sister.

"Rusty Shackelford"

A WR once claimed that he survived two collisions with Bob Sanders in one game. The claim was promptly dismissed as false- nobody could survive the first one.
