This staff has messed with this teams head!
This team is soft.
I really think if we could get to play somebody out of conference we would do very well.
I am not sure right now if that will be in the NIT or the NCAA's....
Time for the coaches to step back, give 8 guys a shot at this...and sink or swim.

Why do you believe playing an out of conference team would be any different?

Yeah I dont get that. Especially if it was a team that could shoot the 3, the hawks would get lit up.
For gods sake, indiana and minnesota struggle to score and each hung 90+. If the hawks play Dougie fresh and creighton, dougie would be well on his way to the alltime scoring record. They would seriously score 120 points.

Right now the scout is out on Iowa...you see all conference teams this time of year that are so prepared it is crazy. A team that has not seen us, is not familiar with us, only has 2 days to prepare...advantage Iowa.

I wouldn't call Iowa soft. Granted, that's what every fan says about their team when they lose, but I don't view Iowa as soft.

I personally believe that Fran may have beaten your team down to the point where they play scared when the game gets tight for fear of making a mistake.

I'm not confident saying "advantage Iowa" against a high school team right now.

I strongly agree he needs to shorten the bench to 7-8 max.

I've been in this camp for a long, long time and taken my fair share of beatings on this board for having this stance. I know you have felt the same for a long time now loess.
 
One problem with depth is the increased tendency for coaches to immediately pull players after they've made a mistake and guys are not allowed to "play through it". I fear over the course of this season that person some of the players are now either playing scared. Of course the flip side is we have a few guys that are now playing increase minutes during big ten which was not needed in the preseason and are perhaps trying to conserve energy on the defensive end in order to continue playing on the offensive end.

Well lets be honest here. An 8 man rotation is essentially the polite way of saying dont play mccabe and probably clemmons unless you are in a desperate situation.
Which I agree with too, but that is basically what got the whole downward spiral going. Mccabe has played so poorly for the last 2 months that he is mostly the reason for everyone feeling this way.

MG and Marble should never leave the damn court!!!! If they do it is only for a spell. Marble played 36, but late in game was on the Bench for a little over a minute. That is just poor game management by Fran.

I have no idea what Fran even thinks he is accomplishing at the end a half when he take MG out to put Marble at the point that is down right criminal to have MG sitting in that situation. It completely disrupts the offensive flow...

Final Note: MG played just 26 minutes tonight.. That is a TRAVESTY!!!!!

Simply put, this team will not win another game. It has nothing to do with the coaches. When they lost the Wisconsin game, it killed their confidence. Same as when the 2012 football team lost 2 players in 3 plays against Penn St. I have not watched a game since Ohio State loss, but this is just the way Iowa sports are. I've been following them since before Hayden Fry and Lute Olson. They underachieve more than they overachieve or meet expectations.
