Binns in trouble?

Kyle Calloway had an OWI last summer, was suspended for UNI and started the ISU game in week two. I am sure Binns will miss the EIU game. If this is his first transgression off the straight and narrow in Kirk's mind, then he will probly miss just one game

The difference though in my mind is Calloway was at least legal drinking age. Binns is 20 and not only did he drive drunk he was also in a bar after 10pm which is also a no no now and drinking alcohol under age as well. I think he misses 2 games instead of 1.

6' 2" and what....280?

Makes you wonder how much liquor must be consumed to blow .101?

Boy that new 21 law is really effective in IC. What type of punishment do you think Binns will receive? since so close to season, a game? two, three?

The new 21 law didn't come into play. He blew through a stop sign and was hammered. He'll only get a max of 3. We'll be fine.

Enough is enough already, this is beyong ridiculous, this is beyond college kids being college kids blah blah blah. All these arrests and this sitll happens to a starter on the best Dline in college football on a top 10 team preseason, this is just STUPID!!!!!!! Wake the hell up players, someone needs to be made an examjple of real quick if these supposed adults don't wake up and realize what a privelage it is to play on this team instead of having to get their freaking drink on and then drive their stupid self back home, when they are not even freaking 21 for goodness sakes!!!!!!!

KHAK is reporting that Binns was wearing a bar bracelet signifying that he was of legal age. So, he either had a fake ID or was let in the bar as a 21 year old.

Here the KCJJ write up. Just sayin bars suck at letting kids in with fakes or what not.

Hawkeye Broderick Binns Arrested for OWI

Binns
Hawkeye defensive end Broderick Binns has been arrested on a drunk driving charge.

Binns, who lives on Woodside Drive, was pulled over by University Heights Police just before 1am Friday near the corner of Benton Street and Greenwood Drive. According to arrest records, Binns drove his 2003 Dodge Durango straight through a left turn lane. He was also pulled over due to an equipment violation.

At first Binns denied drinking, then admitted to having several drinks. He was also wearing a bar wristband indicating that he was of legal age, despite the fact that he is only 20 years old.

The Saint Paul, Minnesota native showed multiple signs of intoxication and had a blood alcohol concentration of .101…just over the legal limit for driving. He’s charged with Operating While Intoxicated.

Binns was listed as a first-team defensive end following spring practice. He started all 13 games at defensive end for the Hawkeyes last season, recording 27 solo tackles, 36 assists and ten tackles for loss.

My bad, I missed that in the article.

Yes it did, he wasn't suppose to be in the bar after 10 pm and if he wouldn't have been and had been at home this incident probably doesn't happen. And he blew a .101 (the old limit was .100), for someone that is 280 pounds that isn't hammered, And don't say we'll be fine when you are a Clone fan.

What concerns me more than the drinking itself is the drinking then driving. Who cares about missing a football game or two, if he were to hit/kill someone while drunk driving. Letting down his top 10 football team will not compare to the guilt he'll live with the rest of his life. OWI's really bother me, show's severe immaturity if you ask me. They just have to be smart/mature enough to not drive after drinking.

Absolutely true. Not only what harm he could do to himself, but to others. How hard is it to call a friend, take a cab home. Get your car in the morning
