Big10 paying fans to attend title game?

And yet people still think playoff games would all be sell outs if college football had a playoff.

Who's ever said that? Bowl games routinely don't sell out as it is.

But, the bowl system has never been about putting butts in seats. It's only about eyeballs in front of TVs.

You are missing the point. If FBS had a playoff like the FCS division the initial rounds, much like the FCS, would be at on campus sites. If you can honestly tell me that a playoff game on a D1 campus would strugle to sell tickets I would tell you to quit drinking.

JD, I do believe you were a strong advocate of Indianapolis for the game. I thought (and still believe) it should be played at Soldier in Chicago. Indy is in the middle of the sticks and is fine for basketball bince 12 teams are going and each will bring some fans, cheerleaders, etc. But when you cut it to 2 teams, each with fanbases that hope to be playing in Pasadena in a few weeks, the pitch to go to Indy is harder. Yes, I know, sometimes it is cold in the Midwest in the late fall. Wear a coat and bring mittens.

If this game were in Chicago, it would be sold out. The ability to pitch the old lady on a trip to Chicago is easy from anywhere in B10 country, but Indy is a tough sell.

I agree. I would go to Chicago from where I live, but probably not Indy.

Well...if Iowa was in the championship game I'd probably go to either!

I'm going to a Bears game in December, so I guess I'll have to see how awful it is.

Wow, I actually agree with something ok4p has posted.

The game should be played outdoors the way football was meant to be played.

I wouldn't sit outside in Chicago for 3hrs if u paid me 1k.

This is the primary reason why I was for the game being in Indy. I dont doubt that Chicago would see better attendance most years due to the population of Big Ten fans in Chicago. But I'd prefer Indy for the game, so elements are not involved.

I guess I am one to think the fans are part of the experience. So, saying you get a better game with less fans does not equate for me.

This is one reason why the Orange Bowl victory was probably my least favorite game day experience of the Hawkeye Bowls I have attended.

But, I was on record at the start rooting against the idea of a permanent home in one of the most boring cities in America.

But, beyond that, this week I have been thinking that I probably won't even watch the game. Which actually I wouldn't have thought I felt that way before the season.

It is going to be great football weather in Chicago tomorrow. Here we are the Big Ten with midwest teams all of them having outdoor stadiums but we have the championship game in a dome.

This is "MUST SEE TV" if only for the sight of sideline reporter Tim Brewster having to chase down Bielema as he is running off the field to ask for an on-camera interview. He may even ask about the Badger two point conversion chart.
