Big thanks to all involved in Righting the Ship (Change the Court)

It is SO nice to be excited about Hawkeye Basketball again! 1 suggestion, lets retire the Black Court, to me, it represents an era of frustration leading to apathy. Maybe the success on the horizon will correct this, but why not make the change now to go along with the new energy.

Full disclosure - usually I *HATE* ideas like this, but...

...I have to say I think this is an awesome idea! Bust out the yellow paint and let's get it done! I love it!

I wouldn't mind some changes to the court, but I actual think the black was a good decision by Alford.

l like the black, how about we get rid of the parquet look though? Or, if it appeases everyone we could maybe go like gold borders and black lanes/lines?

I could go for this. I like the parquet look, though. But the gold borders are what really turn me off to going back to the way it used to be. Just not that eye-pleasing. But Black borders and gold lanes would be perfect for me.

I agree It was a good decision for Alford to change the court, its also a good decision to change the court again. I would not mind the black court (loved the old yellow court when Dr. Toms teams would run and press) but this court REMINDS me of the ALford and Lick years too much and I do not like to think about that.

Love the yellow court. Iowa had lots of success on it. It's like the black court has represented the futility that Iowa Basketball had fell into. I understand they had an undefeated season on the black, but still only one a total of 1 NCAA tournament game during that time. I'm glad it's going back to gold.

You do know that the color of the court doesn't have anything to do with the play on said court, right?

You just don't understand what people are talking about. It's the same reason Hayden Fry changed Iowa's uniforms to look that of the Steelers. He wanted to get rid of the losing atmosphere and remove everything from it. He wanted he guys to look like winners. There has been so much losing associated with that court design that it's time to remove it.

Can you prove that? Seems to me like the overall record when the court was yellow was much better.:D

I like the idea of the Black border with gold lanes. Or at least a wide black banner with yellow behind it around the outside. (need to get officials all the help they can get to show a foot out of bounds and I think the black helps that).

I understand what you're talking about. You want to go back to the old court because we won more with it, and that's silly. I'm all for redesigning the court, but it needs to be done for logical reasons. I have no problems with them bringing more gold back into the court so long as it's done to modernize the facility, not because "I'm sick of losing".
