Because top to bottom the B1G has the most balance. Also, the reason we don't have many top 10 teams in the poll. We are beating the hell out of each other. In the NCAA tourney, however, that will pay dividends. I expect the B1G to have a lot of success.
Exactly. The number of teams a conference have in the top 10 really doesn't mean that much when it comes to the best conference. The Big 10 teams beat up on each other, because there is a realistic chance (in most cases) that either team could win on any given night. It would be rare for a B1G team to have a poor night and still end up winning during conference play. For example: Say a conference has 3 teams in the Top 10, but the other 9 teams in the conference are absolute garbage. It should be easy for those 3 teams that are good to win every game unless they play each other... And since they are all ranked in the top 10... a loss to one of the other good teams isn't going to drop them too far in the rankings.FTR, I'm not saying that the Big 12 is full of garbage teams.I do believe that the B1G is probably the best conference overall this year and I think that is why many analysts consider it the best conference. I don't think they were claiming that we have the best team in the nation in our conference, but that we are solid throughout. You can be in the best conference and still not win the national championship. All it takes is 1 bad game and 1 good game from your opponent to knock you out of the tourny.
