BIG down to 1 team in Top 10 AP

Not true at all. Conference success has many factors over a teams success. Has always been that way.

Let's says Iowa were to go 8-8 in the Big 10. That goes a lot further than going 8-8 in the Pac 12. So saying your conference is better and having it be true is very important to your program.

Somewhat true to a point. But saying stupid **** like CptPuertoRico does, is just trolling.

Agree.

I'm a big fan of OSU and Michigan State. I think they fall right behind Kentucky and UNC in terms of teams most likely to win it. I like their overall game a lot more than I like any Big 12 team. I think the Big 12 teams are very very talented but like I said above they all have holes in their game. OSU and Michigan State are solid.

He was just responding to a false claim that the Big 12 was overrated in football.

In basketball, the Big 10 has the most depth and is the best conference in the nation because of that. Comparing the Big 10 and Big 12, the Big 10 also has the best team out of the two conferences in Ohio State. I think KU, and Mizzou are both better than MSU and Michigan State is a little bit better than Baylor because Izzo>>>>>>>>>Drew.

After that, its a cluster **** with Penn State and Tech being at the bottom.

No, the reason we don't have many top 10 teams is because Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin, and Michigan are not as good as they looked earlier this season.

There is not a team in the Big 10 that does not have a ridiculous loss.

Bad losses happen routinely in basketball and ranked teams lose to unranked teams all the time. It's hard to find a good team who doesn't have a bad loss. It's pretty much the nature of playing such a long schedule.

It's the age of parity in college basketball. So many great players spread around the country. Hard to figure who might be the odds on favorite to win the whole thing, because any team can have an off night. I would bet that Syracuse thinks losing to an 8-loss ND team is a bad loss and Kentucky losing to a 6-loss Indiana team is one they would like to get back. Only Murray State hasn't faltered yet and their sos is suspect. This makes for a wide open tournament that is a blast to watch.

The Big Ten has 7 teams in the top 50 of the RPI. I believe that is the most of any one conference. Also Ken Pom has 10 teams from the conference ranked within his top 100, which is also tops of any conference.

B10 lost as many bowl games as the B12 lost OOC games in total.

A B10 vs B12 football matchup could have resulted in a sweep for the B12 with ease. The B10 has degraded into nothing more than the Midwests version of the ACC - awful in football, overrated and unimpressive in basketball.

Cool.

Cool story bro! Now get back to reality.

I love the people that tout their conference more than their own team. That's the fan equivalent of saying "my dad can beat up your dad". It's pathetic.

Recently, Hawk fans have to tout their conference over their basketball team. Which is basically what this thread is.

Because top to bottom the B1G has the most balance. Also, the reason we don't have many top 10 teams in the poll. We are beating the hell out of each other.
In the NCAA tourney, however, that will pay dividends. I expect the B1G to have a lot of success.

Exactly.

The number of teams a conference have in the top 10 really doesn't mean that much when it comes to the best conference.

The Big 10 teams beat up on each other, because there is a realistic chance (in most cases) that either team could win on any given night. It would be rare for a B1G team to have a poor night and still end up winning during conference play.

For example: Say a conference has 3 teams in the Top 10, but the other 9 teams in the conference are absolute garbage. It should be easy for those 3 teams that are good to win every game unless they play each other... And since they are all ranked in the top 10... a loss to one of the other good teams isn't going to drop them too far in the rankings.

FTR, I'm not saying that the Big 12 is full of garbage teams.

I do believe that the B1G is probably the best conference overall this year and I think that is why many analysts consider it the best conference. I don't think they were claiming that we have the best team in the nation in our conference, but that we are solid throughout.

You can be in the best conference and still not win the national championship. All it takes is 1 bad game and 1 good game from your opponent to knock you out of the tourny.

I'm glad to see someone else thinking the same way. Technically the new polls prove that the B1G is better. There is no way the bottom team in the Big 12 beat Missouri but the bottom teams in the B1G could win any game on a given night Because of how deep the conference is.

Yet the B1G has 4 teams in the Top 10 on KemPom.

8 B1G teams in the Top 50 on KenPom.

Still best conf in the nation, hands down.

Way more indicative than the Top 25 poll.

That's as opposed to the mighty Clones annually flexing their muscles while blasting through the Big Twelve, right?

Murray St is the only team in the country without a ridiculous loss.

We all took a class at ISU on "how to make your losing season a success based on the strength of your conference" after football season.

I think OSU and MSU are legit final four contenders.
The Big Ten has depth down to 10.

Lunardi has 8 teams in....as of now, with 9 Big East teams in...so tossup.
Still KY is the favorite probably.

Can't believe he has so many Big Ten or Big East teams in, but there are a lot of brackets to fill out and the teams have to come from somewhere. Long way to go.
