I don't understand why the Big 12 would do this, more than likely the champion at each weight will earn a wildcard, but why not just invite 2 teams to make it to 6 and be assured of the automatic bids and not depend on getting wildcards?

I wonder what the little 12 would've done had Missouri also joined the B10? It would seem to be in their best interest to come up with a better long term plan.
