Big 12 gives MU and NU ultimatum with a deadline.

If Texas is allowed to start it's own network (really just a few Texas stations that will carry their sports, not a national network) then they will have even more control of the Big 12.

The other Big 12 teams lose no matter what. Texas leaves and the conference collapses. Texas stays and they take an even bigger piece of the pie and control things even more.

Was just surfing the net decided to take a wonder over to the nebraska rivals board, nebraska fans really feel that the Big 10 is a step down in competition. Yikes..lol

if they are talking Big 12 North to Big Ten West, they are insane. If they are talking entire Big 12 to entire Big Ten they have somewhat of a point if you are talking about the very top of each league.

Baylor isn't making the P10, but they may prevent the P16 from happening. Baylor just wants to maintain the status quo.

Nebraska is going to be in the B10 either way. Mizzou ain't getting in invite.

All IMNSHO.

I have been on record saying I do not want the Huskers in the B10. I will take Notre Dame and close the door. Even though they are close proximity that fan base is not one I want in the B10.

I agree. I was with some husker fans last night. It took all of 1 second for them to start talking about how NE would dominate the Big 10.

Living in Omaha, it is not worth it for the Huskers to be in the Big 10. It might be good for the conference, but it is not good for me.

From the slap-fight that is the B12N? The division nobody has wanted to win for six years now? Please.

The article makes it sound like if MO and/or NE commit to staying then the conference makeup of teams will remain the same or very close to it.

The Big 12 would not ask for a commitment from either of these programs if in fact there were still things in play that could change the conference makeup significantly. Can't see them asking for a commitment to something that is still fluid and changing, not knowing what their conference could consist of in the future.

Wouldn't be surprised to see nothing change (or minimal change) in the Big 12 after all this card playing. Maybe the "power teams" have agreed that certain teams can depart if they choose but not certain COMBINATIONS of teams (like MO and NE). If the wrong combo of teams wants to leave then the remaining teams will explore other options on their own.

NE and MO now have to play their cards or fold. If, in fact, the Big 10 has not invited MO or NE to the conference then looks like they may also need to finalize their thinking very soon regarding these two teams. All in all I think this move by the Big 12 is pretty smart considering how they've been a target for suitors.

.....just another opinion.

This whole thing is a joke. Texas Will either leave for greener pastures of demand more money from the big 12. The way I look at it is this: Texas stands to gain financially from joining the PAC 10. If they stay in the big 12 they have nothing more to gain financially unless they demand more money. Either way Texas will get what they want and it appears that they want more money.

I agree with this 10000%. I wish more fans realized how insane a large portion of the fan base is. We have enough ego's in the conference, and I'm not interested in another one of that size.

My question is this.. why is the big ten not moving quickly on this? they seemed to be bent on waiting until next year to make a move. Meanwhile the PAc ten is ready to move right now. Big ten, needs to decide what they want, make the offers, get er done now!

The Big Ten didn't get to be the richest and most influential conference in the nation by making snap decisons on things. We aren't in need of more money, so we have plenty of time to sit back and choose whomever will be the most beneficial for all of us, and those whom we invite.

Instead of worrying who might leave, if the Big 12 had a brain they'd be proactive and try to add 2 or 4 teams, starting with Arkansas. They've have tradition from the old SWC, are a solid football and bball program, and even though it is a small state, it probably gets them into the Memphis TV market.

The difference is that unlike an Ohio State (who we've beaten like 5 times in 50 years), Nebraska is a school we can beat on a fairly consistent basis. The number one reason those fans are so arrogant with us is that they never play us anymore, and we don't get the chance to shut them up. Letting them into the Big Ten and serving them a nice dose of reality will be a cure-all.

I'm not so sure...still hasn't cured ISU...

creeksider, why would Arkansas leave its SEC money for less money and a more unstable situation in the Big 12?

WTH i take a tv - internet break for the weekend. I come back and all conference hell has broken loose. I cant wait to see how this unfolds. Buy the way and i dont usually like to be mean. But the ISU boards are priceless these days. My inlaws arent saying anything about this.

Really is appropriate for a state of Iowa's size to have one major conference football program, one mid-major football program and one DII program.

Each should be able to thrive at their own level.
