I give Bret this; he beat the teams he should have beaten, in and out of conference.

In the Big Ten, Bielema went 23-1 against Minnesota, Indiana, Illinois, and Purdue and 16-18 against everybody else.

Just in case you are wondering, Iowa has played 12 regular season OOC games against BCS conference teams during that same span, and six of those being road games.

Bert and ol' Barry sure do like the cupcakes, don't they.

Huge difference between bielema And Ferentz: at least he destroyed all those cupcakes where they were heavy favorites. Iowa typically plays a similar lineup of uni, c/w/e Michigan, ball st, etc and they straight up lose to them, usually at least 1 every yr

Yes, which is why I said this in the second post: "I give Bret this; he beat the teams he should have beaten, in and out of conference. "

Sorry I missed the second post, my bad!
If crushing bad non conference foes is the key to making the rosé bowl, I'd take it. Wisc also usually beats nw/ind/Ill/Purdue by about 40

They did take care of the cupcakes...question...doesn't the ad make the schedule, with not a whole lot of input from the coach?

Bielema >>>>>>> KF and it isn't even close. 3 consecutive Rose Bowls. Sure, he got the opportunity this year due to a technicality, but he took advantage of it by stomping out Neb.

Anyone who is spinning this as a positive for Wisconsin is up for a rude awakening.

Here is what the outside coach sees.

1) I sell out the stadium and take us to Rose Bowls for three straight years and my facilities suck.
2) I sell out the stadium and take us to Rose Bowls for three straight years and my assistants pay sucks.
3) I sell out the stadium and take us to Rose Bowls for three straight years and the fanbase wants me gone?
4) I now have to compete against Urban Meyer who clearly is going to escalate things in Columbus, but three straight Rose Bowls isn't enough? So basically, the fan base will never be happy with me.

At least if Iowa were looking for a coach, we have a history of investing in our program in major ways and a gaggle of alums and coaching tree branches to pick from.

I haven't seen Wisconsin's facilities lately. What are they like? Have they not kept up with the rest of the top BIG teams?

Not sure why we're throwing Wiscy under the bus for OOC schedules. We don't exactly shy away from cupcakes either. He's won OOC games and conference games. Bowl wins on the other hand he could use some improvement.
