Bielema Still Working on Chevin Calloway

He still plans to take his official visit to Iowa so although not good news he's still visiting other programs he hasn't stated he's backing off his Iowa verbal that I'm aware of. As of last Friday he indicated in an Arkansas paper that nothing is for sure until Feb. The paper also indicated future visits to NE, ARK, TX, and possibly Ole Miss.

I think we need another good year on the field to hold onto him.

Somebody beat this nebby team already and take them off there delusional high. They finally win a few games and they are acting relevant again like they last were 25 years ago lol. Don't worry Tommy will be Tommy again

It's one thing to want to take a visit to Arkansas where you have family. It's another to set a bunch of random visits. It mean he isn't committed what's so ever.

I get the point of being weary about a kid that's already committed taking an official visit, but at the same time I can see why they'd want to still make their visits. You get to experience some of the best venues and biggest games during the course of the season that some would only dream of being able to attend. Hopefully he's just taking it all in and enjoying the opportunities he's given and will still sign with us. Unfortunately all we can do is hope a 17 or 18 year old can honor a commitment they made to a specific program, but I'll never fault a kid for visiting other campuses if his mind is truly made up as to where he wants to go.

I think at times we tend to forget that these kids are usually super fans of the sports they play. We make it seem like its simple to stop taking official visits where these kids get treated like kings and get to see some of the biggest football games being played during the course of a season. As a die hard Iowa fan I think I'd even have a hard time saying I'm committed to the University of Iowa so I'm going to pass up the opportunity to go to games in Lincoln, South Bend, Arkansas, etc...

We take it for granted that although they're being heavily recruited to attend these visits that some of these kids may simply be going to enjoy an atmosphere in a stadium they may never get to experience again. Verbally committed or not, I think I'd have a hard time convincing myself not to make the best of these opportunities.

If what he says in this article is true I have to admit that I don't blame the young man. He's getting the feeling Iowa coaches don't really care.

Not a good image regarding Coach Parker

I don't believe Chevin's account at all. Just in reading that item, it screamed that there is something else going on. I tweeted as much, and Tom Kakert of HawkeyeReport replied to me saying there was....Rob is on a once in a lifetime vacation overseas right now, and I suspect he may be able to shed some light when he gets back, too...if he can (meaning if he feels comfortable)....but clearly, Iowa just isn't letting a ball drop accidentally here. I suspect there is something or some things that precipitated things deteriorating, or this account is not entirely accurate.

Wish the kid well in his endeavors....

Yeah, he went from saying that they weren't talking to him to saying Woods was talking to him but not Parker. And reportedly his parents told Nebraska people that Iowa said they wouldn't pay for them to visit with Chevin which is complete BS. They can only call a recruit right now once a week. That started Sept. 1st. The first week Kirk called him himself and it was the first recruit he called. It is clear they are trying to make excuses and it certainly looks like his parents have a lot to do with it. Also appears to be afraid of competition.

Yep. That's the part I found funny.

"The only thing negative about Nebraska is that they have like ten cornerback's, and I don't want to sit around."

I don't want to say Calloway is a liar because he seems like a good kid but there's something fishy going on here. I don't believe Parker is just ignoring him

I believe during the season coaches are limited int he number of phone calls they can make. Not sure are tweets and texts. If what he is saying is true he is most likely getting calls in excess of the allowed number from other institutions.

Sounds like Chevin wants the Hawks and his family does not according to Kakert. Iowa not likely to put up with the shenanigans being played with how things are being framed currently by the Calloway contingency.

The point that his parents don't want him at Iowa is correct. Iowa recruiting knows this and there really isn't much more that can be said or done if mom & dad don't want you to go somewhere. Thus, Iowa knows this situation is dead and have basically stopped because it's a futile situation now. Of course, Iowa cannot comment on it but the recruits can say anything, much like the Jim Harbaugh stories of last year. If you think for one moment that the Iowa staff deliberately tried less hard to recruit a consensus 4-star DB who would likely play next season given the piss poor product we're putting on the field this year, you're just misinformed or you're just being intellectually dishonest.
