Bielema - ****** Bag or Major ****** Bag?

At least his son, if he has one, maybe, probably doesn't boil the goldfish, Vin.....

Y'all wouldn't be complaining if he was the Hawks' coach and running up scores. We complain around here about too many close games........

Running up the score? Maybe he is confused and thinks he played college ball for Ohio State. Me strongly thinks it's time to test his offensive line for steroids.

Bielema is a complete ***-bag. A couple years ago when they beat us, he was interviewed on the field afterward.
With a smirk on his face, he said, and I will never forget this, "We play 4 quarters here."
As if Iowa quit and they made us their beyaaatches. I wanted to reach through the screen and punch that mf'er in the face.
It's possible to win with class, you don't have to be a classless badger-bag about it.

Listen, I can understand your frustration that the the four greatest members of the Hayden Fry coaching tree went on to coach elsewhere but that doesn't give you the right to call the number two guy on that list a dbag.

huh?

I don't mind Bielema, and I have no problem with a team running up the score.

I agree with this to the point of where running up the score eludes common human decency. I would equate Bielema going for two up 47-25 late in the fourth against Minnesota a few years ago 'because the sheet said to go for two' with the point where a certain degree of decency is lacking. But the week-to-week examples people cite as him running up the score are a little petty.

I had no problem with them putting 83 and 70 on Indiana and Northwestern last year, respectively. We shut down our offense after our 28-0 first half against ISU. Some say classy...I say begging for disaster. We were up 28-7 against Michigan last year and then the old run 3x and punt offense came out, and a few quick drives later we were in a 35-28 ballgame.

There's nothing wrong with hanging 60+ on a team. It builds confidence, keeps your team humming from week to week, and gets the program some attention. Bielema puts his backups in eventually, and I never see them throwing 50-yard bombs late in the game.

IMO I see nothing wrong with the belief that you play your hardest for 60 minutes regardless of the score. I also see nothing wrong with the fact that just because your opponent has given up or was never in the game to begin with it's not your place to cater to them and let them off the hook, because they simply can't get it going. Whether we like the way he coaches or not, he coaches the same way against OOC's as he does conference foes. His players play hard every second all game long, whether that's him being a dbag or not the philosophy or style of play never changes or misses a beat.

I would be willing to guess the majority of those who would like to have Bielema as our coach are under the age of 30.

If you want to look at records I would suggest comparing conference records so you are comparing apples to apples. I know our non conference schedule takes a lot of heat but at least our program is not being featured in the WSJ for its incredibly weak non conference schedule.

well he acts like iowa state every time we play them and everytime i hear anyone ask fitz about iowa....he gets that look on his face and pretty much says **** iowa who is that.

I don't have any problem with Bielema. He has done a nice job. I actually thought he would have a hard time keeping Wisky at a competitive level once Alvarez left. He not only did that but has made them even better. Not sure why but there have been a lot of posts about Bielema this year ... Maybe it is jealousy? He has a great team with a very good quarterback. Their schedule has not been too tough but they are doing what they are supposed to do -- winning and winning in a convincing fashion. Wisky is the team to beat this year in the Big 10... One poster said he is bothered because Bielema does not credit Hayden or Iowa, etc. Why would that regularly come up in his interviews. He is the Wisconsin coach now. He is not coaching at Iowa so why would he focus on the Hawks or who gave him a break, etc? Some may think he runs up the score but hey, that is part of the game. It is up to the other team to make the stop. And you can't ask your players to stop playing hard ...
