I will have to watch the umpires from now on because I didnt think they usually creep toward the LOS when the QB drops back. Hard for them to see holding when they get into the LOS area. Maybe it was because the play started at the 2 or 3 yard line.
Why wouldnt you run your slow , shell shocked QB up the middle when the biggest game of the year is on the line? I mean, its not like Toren Young was doing anything. Or we have some WRs that were making plays.
I’m not a big BF supporter by any means but I think that was a good play call. Two point conversions are tough and the QB (for Iowa anyway) is the unaccounted for runner.
Nate Stanley needs to go airborne and put his body on the line to get that. CJ Beathard would have. Nate Stanley is a decent QB but for some reason he just doesn’t have that it factor that Beathard or Stanzi possessed.
You can argue that Stanley needed to get lower and commit lower to go through someone...but the play call wasn't bad. The real issue as to why it failed was that Micah Sargent got screened by the referee...and couldn't make the block on the safety...he gets even a small piece of the safety and it's good.
...but wasn't Sarge, who was coming in from the wing to block the safety who tackled Stanley, screened out of the play by the umpire? And would it have mattered if he wasn't?
