If BF cares about Iowa football and his own future, he needs to tender his resignation at the end of the season. There is no way he is going to learn how to be a good OC under his dad's inflexible coaching mentality, sadly the game has passed KF by. I have no explanation as to what happened in the OSU game but I can be almost certain it had nothing to do with KF - not unless he intentionally removed himself from the game planning altogether and let everyone else game plan. If that's the case, we have our answer as to what needs to happen but the chances of him stepping away are almost nil.
BF needs to understand that his reputation is being built at Iowa, and right now that reputation is quickly turning to garbage. Clearly, he needs to get his dad's attention and resigning may be the only way he can make his dad understand that his dogged (bone-headed) formula is no longer working. BF needs to realize that if he wants a future in the sport, he needs to learn how to coach on the offensive side of the line of scrimmage from someone who knows how to scheme, i.e. how to exploit the other team's tendencies while doing a better job of masking your own.
The team has lost confidence in its ability and more importantly, they do not seem to trust the coaching staff to provide any answers. The college game is driven by confidence and momentum, of which Iowa seems completely lacking. There certainly are answers to be found, but can they be found by Iowa's head coach? I wish I could say yes but that would only be wishful thinking on my part, there is really no evidence to support such a belief.
I really do want BF to succeed, but realistically, I think he needs to find a program where he can truly learn how the game is played in 2017 and beyond.
