Best WR in the Big Ten

jenkins said he was the best and then osu cbs basically said he was just good not great. i believe osu won that battle. he did little to them.

He had 8 catches for 80 yards. That's not bad considering the defense and that Scheelhaase isn't that great.

This isn't as much of a lay-up for Jenkins as so many fans here seem to think. McNutt should squarely be in the conversation.

In no particular order, I've been most impressed this year with Iowa's McNutt, MSU's Cunningham, Northwestern's Ebert, and the Illini's Jenkins.

Jenkins has over 20 more catches and 200 more yards than McNutt. True, he's played in one more game, but I think the numbers still speak for themselves.

Jenkins is also the only guy that they consistently look to throw to. One guy has 20 grabs, and then no one else has more than 12. We have two guys with 30 grabs or more.

If we looked McNutt's way as much as Illinois looks for Jenkins, he'd put up just as stellar numbers. But we don't, partly due to the design of our offense (pro style vs. spread), and partly due to the fact that we have other guys around McNutt that we need to feed, too.

True, but on the flip side, other talented receivers take pressure and defense off of McNutt as well.

That's true, but neither team has seen much in the way of great pass defense. And Jenkins got plenty of stat-padding in against Northwestern. Of Scheelhaase's 21 completions, Jenkins caught 12. McNutt could have easily put up similar numbers against that defense, but we fed the ball to Davis, too, and he finished with over 100 yards.

Stats can say a lot about how good someone is, but sometimes it is deceiving--Dallas Clark is a perfect example. He has pretty awful stats this year, but I would say he is one of the best TE's in the NFL.

I haven't watched Jenkins, but I know there are times where McNutt makes JVB's throws look better than they are. I'm not saying JVB makes a lot of bad throws(because I think he makes a lot of great throws), but there are times where it isn't a very good pass, but McNutt finds a way to pull it in.

I also think McNutt is underrated when it comes to a national level. He doesn't have amazing speed, but he has size and absolutely amazing hands and great intangibles.

I think he deserves to be at least mentioned as one of the top 2 WRs in the B1G and I think he may even deserve to be mentioned as one of the top 10 WRs in college football this year.

Of course this is just my opinion and I will admit I haven't watched many other teams this year as much as I'd like to and normally do.

You know what other #s speak for themselves, the nearly 3 ypr more that McNutt has, the 1 more TD in 1 less game. Yeah on an offense where he's the only real option Jenkins has more catches, meanwhile McNutt does more each time he gets his hands on the ball, and has another top 10 WR lining up across from him. McNutt is hands down the best in the B1G and it's really not close.

Jenkins has no other options so he can see (I don't know if he does see as I haven't really broken down film or anything) double teams, different overages, the other teams best corner and what not. He has an inferior QB throwing him the ball and he still puts up huge numbers and is a flat out beast.

McNutt has a good QB throwing him the ball, has other wide receivers to limit the types of defenses thrown at him and he is also putting up gaudy numbers and is a flat out beast.

Both have put up huge numbers against bad defenses and pretty good numbers against really good ones.

I think they are both really good receivers and it's a toss up as to which one is better (it really doesn't matter honestly). I don't see how it's not even close.

My concern with McNutt is that occasionally, he'll start thinking about running before he secures the ball.

Also, I wish we could utilize his QBing ability from time to time. I know asking for a WR pass from KF and Co would likely be like pulling teeth (we probably try one every other year), but perhaps it could be a big play against the likes of MSU, etc?
