Best shooting performance ever

In a game by a Hawkeye or by an opponent, from your era?

Rodney Monroe still haunts me...

Gatens making 12 straight 3s over 2 games was impressive. I remember a game between Duke and Wake Forest in the mid 90s where Randolph Childress was raining in everything he threw up. That was the best I had ever seen in my life at the time. But you always remember things from your past a little exaggerated so who knows.

Rick Mount (Purdue) in two BT games vs Ralph Miller a teams. Ralph basically said, "We will let Mount score as many as he can, but he can't score more than Iowa as a team." Iowa averaged 100+ points per game that year and beat Purdue twice. I can't remember how many points Mount scored in those games, but I recall that it was over 40, each. Anybody recall the actuals?

The best shooting performance I've ever seen in person was Mike McGee of Michigan back in 1981 in the old Fieldhouse. Iowa won the game, but McGee was unbelievable. Kevin Boyle, B10's top defender was all over him all day and McGee had like 27 in the second half and single handedly kept Michigan in it. He made shot after shot with Boyle in his face...and Boyle was bigger. It was freaking crazy. The fieldhouse was loud, and I mean loud during a close game, and the crowd would be going crazy and McGee would hit a 25 foot two pointer with Boyle hanging all over him, and the place would go dead silent. That happened 13 times in the second half...and they were all from long range. Crazy shooting performance.

Val Barnes in the MSU game following Chris Street's death. Don't have any numbers, but my memory (which may not be that good) tells me that anything he threw toward the basket, went in.

Just got a more recent highlight,i recall Justin Johnson(remember him?), Going off in the second half of some game. I'm sure it was against licks orders, but he started shooting from way downtown. I seem to recall him shooting one from the hash mark.

I remember that one. I think it was against Indiana and he almost brought the Hawks back single handily

I thought about that one too. I think he made around 6 3s in the last few minutes of the game. I'm pretty sure one of them banked in tho. Also think one was at the buzzer to lose by 2ish.

I remember Niang hitting two in a row against us. cyfans posted it was a legendary performance and it would go down in the annals of history as the greatest game ever played.

Kingsbury hit 9 3s in a game twice. When he was hot...it was a hell of a lot of fun to watch him. Some of those shots came from waaaay out.

Also remember Chris Kingsbury against UConn going off and hitting several huge shots. Can't remember all of the details, but I was thinking it was the Great Alaska Shootout, or maybe Maui Classic, etc. Dude could shoot lights out and had no conscience.
