Ben McCollum Introductory Press Conference, 3:30PM

Welp, there ya have it.

I like what the guy said but ultimately money talks and everything else walks these days. We'll see in the next few months how much bread they're gonna give him.

At least bring back Drake and UNI.

I’m with you on this. Iowa basketball isn’t what it once was when I was growing up in the 80(s) and 90(s). That said, what we see with the neutral site games in Sioux is Falls and Quad Cities, that there is still a love and passion for Iowa men’s basketball across the state.

So games in Cedar Falls and Des Moines every other year can only help. It would be a tiny part in getting the fan base re-engaged, but this is the type of grassroots stuff you have to do now.

Based on what I've seen said about his thoughts on scheduling generally, I would think neutral site games with them are potentially doable. I do not think he would be terribly inclined to a home and away series, but maybe that has been overstated. From what I have seen, he's not generally a big fan of travelling for non-con games. I am no expert, and maybe he has different feelings for the Iowa program with this stuff all together.

I'm with you all though, would love to see us playing them every year.

McCollum better have made it a condition that the blue hairs are getting the boot for a student section by the floor.
His oldest son was all-state and a senior this year, but my understanding is not a D1 player. I was thinking Beth really should have made it a condition in negotiations that his son can never walk on, or even be a student manager. Or grad assistant or any position on staff one day. (Nothing personal, kid).

I’m trying to figure out is this a Lil Lick joke or the McCaffrey family catching strays.:)

You are right. Getting the home/away probably isn’t going to happen. We are getting games instead against SE Louisiana and Winthrop in the non-conference schedule, you roll your eyes, and say to yourself, give me UNI or Drake in place of this.
