Ben Brust...we hardly knew ye

He cant guard anyone he is 6-1 sg we will live

He was the worst member of the class

He was also rated behind 2 guys who signed with Drake out of Illinois

In the short run this sucks for us however I feel this was a just ruling and the BT did something in the best interest of the player.

Sorry guys but I'm fed up with all these players coming and going as they please. He claimed to have been the biggest Iowa fan ever and now this? I look forward to booing him in Carver, step up student section! We should have been booing Bohannon everytime he played at Carver as well, I'm sick of these instaters ditching our program and players like Brust backing out. I'm sorry but I am just now fed up!!!!

I eagerly anticipate the Big Ten's logic behind this.

Me too. I agree that he shouldn't be forced to play at Iowa, but not sure how this doesn't come accross as raiding players from a school. Makes the rule about not going to other B10 teams seem like a sham. If you enter into a legal agreement with someone you should know all of the consequences of that before you do it. That said he could still go to any B10 school, but doesn't sound like Iowa's on his radar anymore.

Not sure how old you are, but as a student section member from '05-'09 every time Bohannon touched the ball at Carver we chanted "Traitor" at him. Not the same situation with Brust, but just wanted to stick up for the few of us in the Hawk Student Section, we were booing him.

The Big Ten sure is fast on these appeals. It seems like appeals to the NCAA take forever and a month

The story here isn't about Ben. The story here is why the B10 changed it's rules. It will be very interesting to see if they amend that rule to reflect it will not be enforced if the coach of the school you commited to leaves prior to the first day of classes or the first day of practice or some other deadline date.

Ohh and the people raggin on his playing ability and the boo everyone guy just come off as looking as poor loosers... or maybe just loosers.

I'm not advocating "booing" or poor sportsmanship by any means. In fact, I hope the Hawkeye fanbase can rise above all that. However, the reality is going to be a lot of animosity directed at Ben and an uncomfortable situation for all involved. I found it funny reading the comments section of that article. I wonder, tables turned, how those same people would react? I don't personally care for it, but life goes on and Fran and the Hawks have a job to do, let's do our part by supporting our team rather than wasting energy bringing others down.

UW wins appeal on behalf of Brust - JSOnline

Wiscy wins appeal. Brust can play anywhere he wants. IE Wiscy.

What goes around comes around. This will bite Wisconsin in the *** some day. I really think this was about Brust realizing he wouldn't fit into the style of play promoted by McCaffery. Look where he wants to go, to the other super slow down school in the Big Ten. It's probably a better fit for him. I give the kid the credit for knowing his weaknesses.

Good. Now let's go after their 6'9" PF that decomitted earlier!

Brust will enjoy Wisconsin's style, fits what he was looking for, but wonder what he will feel like when Iowa puts up 70-80 points a game and they score 60-65/game? More points = more shot opportunities.

Actually, giving him complete silence would be more appropriate...

I also am very anxious to hear the B10's reason for setting a new precedent. This means that every league school now can start recruiting other school's commits once there is even a rumor of the coach leaving...

I said from the beginning I felt Iowa and Brust should go their own ways. I still feel that way. Still, I have lost a little respect for Bo Ryan. I have no problem with recruits filing appeals. It looks a little shady when other Big Ten programs do it. I can't imagine Iowa doing this regardless of the sport.
