When Ferentz says "we're a 7-5 team, we're looking at everything" why is it that people won't believe him.
I think he's starting to realize that there are solutions that are bigger than just looking at film and correcting details (execution). ....
thing is they are slow to make changes
- wait until they're behind to start attacking
- tolerate poor OL ine play until injury forces a change
- tolerate so-so QB play until injury forces a change
etc.
I can't work the multi-quote function or would've also quoted 1H1's post to answer ... because he lied about it earlier this season.
Your other examples of doing "surprising" things sums up your other quoted statements. It doesn't matter that he does some things, it's that he usually does some nonsensical, mistimed, desparation things that are contrary to strategy or personnel, meanwhile, ignoring the fundamental things he publicly states are obvious considerations from series to series, game to game, season to season.
Why is it that he can "surprise" you on the fly but other things -- that are just as simple of decisions as whether to go for it on 4th down or run a jet sweep yet have a much greater impact on the overall success of his team --
always get put on hold until
after the season when "they take a look at everything".
I can only answer after watching him take this same approach for most of the last decade, with little actual meaningful change, let alone improvement, that he is either a brick-headed dolt or is simply pacifying the crowd with coach speak.
Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me season after season, shame on me. I ain't fooled. I really don't think, in your head, you are either, NC.
