BCS Standings

Sweet! If we keep winning the AP is gonna start moving us up and if we stay number 1 in the computer polls we could end up in the national championship game no matter what anyone else does.

Based on the computer rankings, if we can move to 4th in both the Harris and US Today poll, we have a legit shot at jumping Texas for a spot in the National Championship game. As we keep moving up, we will get more votes and points. The computers are not really giving Texas much love at all.

Of course we have to keep winning for any of this to play out:D.:)

Not necessarily. If one of the 2 SEC teams go undefeated and if Texas goes undefeated, those two will play for NC.So Iowa could still go undefeated and not play for NC.Sucks...I know.

It is realistic to think the computer rating will go down a little for next two weeks since we will play Indina and Norwestern.

CollegeFootballNews' analysis of the standings. They list Iowa as a big winner.

"Up from sixth to fourth, Iowa is no longer a cute novelty act. A true national title contender now, the Hawkeyes are No. 1 according to the computers, getting the top spot in a shocking five of the six formulas. The humans are still cool to the idea of Kirk Ferentz’s club getting to the national title, with a ranking of eighth in both polls, but that would change with a win at Ohio State. Indiana, Northwestern and Minnesota have no shot of beating the Hawkeyes in Iowa City.

Predicted Wins: Indiana, Northwestern, Minnesota
Predicted Losses: at Ohio State
Predicted Final Record: 11-1
Predicted Bowl: Rose Bowl
Toughest Remaining Tests: at Ohio State"

Damn - we need more love from the harris and coaches polls!!!

NO, NO we don't.

Just a little bit of love and Iowa will be 3rd.

Did the numbers: If Iowa's computer love stays this high, need a 5 and 6th in human polls to move to 3rd.

I'm starting to wonder if a 13-0 Iowa team with a decisive Rose Bowl victory wouldn't have a chance at a split National Champion?

Might be wrong, but I have to believe that with three of our games being Indiana, Northwestern and Minnesota that the "computer love" is going to cool perhaps a little over the next few weeks.

Hawks just need to win out and let the polls take care of themselves.
