Yes, Lorenzen hurt his back and that limited what he could do. Without the back injury who knows how well Al would have played. Another player with a back injury that played for Iowa for about 9 years comes to mind.
Woodbury is much better than Lorenzen was; also much different times. I don't think Lorenzen played year around on an AAU team that traveled around the country and played in numerous tournaments. Who knows how good Lorenzen would have been had he played on an AAU team for 4 years and had never had a back injury.
