Barry Alverez will be the head coach in the Rose Bowl Game

Not sure if assuming full time coaching duties after the Rose bowl is really a good move after all he is 65 years old and is 7 years removed from coaching. But as long as he can still recruit like he did before B.B. took over, I think he would be alright but then again how long before he wants to retire. I am guessing if he did take back over, it wouldn't be for more than 2 or 3 years. Basically, until they can get a coach for the long haul (as much as possible anyway) that the school really wants. You know they are going to pay big bucks to get a high end coach.

Not surprising at all. From what I've heard from some of my Badger buddies in Madison, Barry has had trouble keeping his hands out of the cookie jar. Perhaps his inability to relinquish control is one of the reasons BB said screw it. But that's just speculation on my part.

That would make alot of sense. But can you blame Barry, he seems like KF in that he is one of the last "good ole boys". I am sure Barry had a nice chat with BB after he hung over 80 points on a hapless Indiana a few years ago. Plus BB seems like a tool and I am sure Barry tried to give advice to keep the program he helped build up not be ruined by BB.

This is exactly why BB left Wisky. Everyone loves Barry, it doesn't matter what BB does it will never be good enough. Along with the looming Meyer Ohio State juggernaut... OSU will be the leaderschampion forever given the PSU ban and ILInoy, INdy and Purdue putrideness.

Some national college FB pundits say BB will fail at AR because he can't recruit (fairly low history of rankings), doesn't know the south, and was something like 23-1 against IL, Minny, Indy and Purdue and below 500 against the rest of the BIG TEN. (Not to mention he can't win the big game bowls)

I disagree completely. He will do great in Florida recruiting (and the rest of the south), already proved it at Iowa and Wisky. I've heard he's perfected his Southern accent. Because of lack of academic requirements, no recruiting morals in the SEC and his killer attitude.. BB will thrive.

This is great for Iowa, just don't think anyone replacing BB will be as good,

I think Bart was in no danger of ruining the program. When you're winning the conference in years 4,5, and 6, your predecessor doesn't get to share the credit.

So you're telling me that just this year alone Kurt had more losses against Indiana and Purdue than Bert has had in his whole career?

Pretty much... don't quote me, relying on a talking radio throat that referenced that stat. He buried BB and believed he will fail at Arkansas... kinda like Nick Saban when he went to LSU. Although LSU is still a much greater gig.

and as a follow-up... Arkansas does have some history and cache in football.. just not Florida, Georgia, Alabama, and Louuusianna. BB is one driven man and Les and Nick are entering the twilight. I would love for BB to beat LSU and Bama down big time, time will tell.

Good point Ghost. But I still stand by my statement, BB is a tool regardless of his 3 B1G Championships. Can't really back it up with fact or anything real just gut feeling.

hmmmm, getting back in the saddle?

will see if Wisky can find a good coach, otherwise it wouldn't surprise me to see BA back in coaching. he's younger than i thought he was.

I was a soph @ Iowa the year BA won the 4A FB champ-trophy @ Mason City (Hampton grad here).

HF gave him his shot and he made the best of it, although, BA and KF parted on semi-sour terms when BA went to Notre Dame.

Had BA not run off to ND, IMO, he would have succeeded HF.

I wish Barry nothing but continued success. A fighter and a climber for sure.

I remember BA telling the story about picking Ferentz up at the airport in CR. I'd go on but too lazy to. If I can find the video I'll share it.
