He also played for three different coaches. That is even more sad.

He's been through a lot, and been a great Hawkeye. Deserves a big ovation on Senior Day.

Undersized and limited offensive power forward. 2 major injury rehabs, 2 different coaches, will play on 4 losing teams, if every Hawkeye played with his heart and aggressiveness we would have at least 5-6 more wins. Heart and soul of this yrs team, one of my favorite hawkeyes ever!

I hope the DI, the Press-Citizen, even The Register, have big Jarryd Cole stories coming just before Senior Day. Students and adult fans alike need to be made fully aware of the contributions he made to the program over the years. He deserves a warm, warm send-off for his final game in CHA.

A true Hawkeye; he'll be welcome in Iowa City always.

That is very sad.
He is a beast, just undersized. He is one of those guys who would be everyone's favorite player if he was a role guy on a better team. That's not taking anything away from him at all. He'd be the first guy off the bench, he would be a high-energy/motor guy. He would get the crowd into it with his hustle and effort.

At least Jarryd will get a great send off from the fans instead of getting snubbed by his coach the way J.R. Angle did. A great example of Lickliter showing class and taking the high road. J.R. didn't have the most talent but at least giving him a few seconds on the court would have been nice to see.

Am I the only one who bristles when anyone says Jarryd is undersized? He's a legit 6-7 250 pound horse. That isn't undersized at PF. He may appear undersized because he's been the biggest guy on the floor for our team much of his carreer, but if he played at MSU or Wisky you wouldn't hear people refer to him as undersized.

I was wondering about this the other day....when the last time a 4-year Iowa senior didn't get to see an NCAA tournament.

I don't know about you guys, but when this program has returned to respectability, I will look back on these unending rebuilding years and be thankful for Cole. He stuck it out, never complained and didn't abandon the program.

He's a great Hawkeye.

I think most fans are only saying that he is undersized to play center in the Big Ten.
Can you think of many smaller centers in the league?
He is fine at power forward, but alas, he was forced to play center way too much.

The way he shot the ball this year, he could have been fine at power forward. Earlier in his career,he seemed a bit too limited offensively, but has definitely had that senior bump we have been missing in recent years.
Jarryd seems like the kind of man who will not dwell on the negative, and will take away his degree and the admiration of hawkeye bb fans everywhere and chalk it up to a great learning experience in his life.

I hope we have a full house to bid him adeui.

I agree Jarryd has the size to play PF. The problem is that he is forced to match up with other teams centers. He is undersized when almost every team we play have a couple of 6'10 guys. Iowa's lack of a ligt center is one of it's biggest weaknesses. It would have been great to have someone like Eric Hanson playing next to Jarryd.

Ok, then we agree, our TEAM is undersized not Jarryd. That label just shouldn't be applied to him.

He actually played for 2, Lick and Fran. Was recruited by Alford though. And you are right, he absolutely deserves a huge ovation on Senior Day. His hustle and leadership will be missed next year.

I remember thinking that Mike Henderson received similar treatment by SA in 2007.

Any player who stays on the team for four or five years and keeps their nose clean should at least get to touch the floor on senior day. When it doesn't happen it makes the coach look bad. It's doubtfull that giving a player 30 seconds of playing time is going to cost you a game.

I think everybody around here should e-mail Barta. The marketing department needs to advertise this like crazy for the next week and a half. We need to fill Carver for this. Cole deserves a fantastic sendoff.

Lickliter was the biggest ******** for not giving J.R. Angle minutes on Sr. Day. 20 loss team and he couldn't play him but instead kept shoving his son down are throat. What a joke that was. I will never ever forget that.

Doesn't look that to me. I could never see Alford doing that to a Sr. on Sr. Day. As a former player he knows how special that day is.

Mike Henderson Sr. Day.

“Just an outgoing guy, a guy who’s going to work the sidelines with the players, and definitely be a motivational speaker-type of guy,” said Henderson, who completed his college career in Steve Alford’s final season as coach and lives in Waterloo. “A coach that’s young enough that can almost get out there and compete. That was the one thing with Alford that really inspired us.”

Lick was a classless piece of garbage for what he did to Angle. Let's also not forget that Lickliter completely turned his back on most all former players. He was a joke. I'm serious when I say this. Many of you dislike Alford and that's fine with me, however Lickliter made Alford look like a saint when it came coaching, interacting with players, fans and former Hawkeye Players. Lickliter was pure garbage.

Clearly, your ''thinking'' was dead wrong. Look at the Gazette article linked by the poster above this....picture of Mike Henderson fighting off tears as they showed a video honoring him on senior day.

It is amazing how folks let the hatred of SA distort the facts sometimes.
