I see Kirk has recently offered Barkley Hilll who is committed to ISU. Is this a common practice to go after a kid that has committed? I know Bill Snyder has always done this, but didn't realize Kirk did also.

The only one I could think of last year was Canzeri, he was a Villanova commit and Iowa offered him soon after he committed there.

What is he planning on playing at ISU?

Yeah I thought it was just slimy guys like Snyder and BB who did that.

Being that you're an ISU fan I fully understand that you know nothing about college football. That being said, it is very common practice all over the country where college football is played. I hope this helps.

It is very common to offer a committed recruit. Almost all get offers after they commit and in the case of Iowa commits, it is common to have someone offer after they have committed to Iowa. Some change their minds because they took the first offer and some get hammered by recruiters promising the world.

Common practice. I remember that Cheeezdick talked about this once. If the Texas' of the world found themselves short a player in Jan/feb, they would just start offering Texas kids who had verballed to other programs. One was bound to jump ship to stay in state at Texas.

That said I don't think Iowa does it often, as usually you are just wasting time. Yet they must have enough mutual interest from Hill that they felt it was worth offering him. We will find out if Hill wants to stay with ISU, or go to Iowa now.....

This, Iowa and KF don't just throw out offers to kids that have verbally committed somewhere else unless that kid has somehow expressed some sort of interest. Now if Iowa had no interest it wouldn't matter if Hill was interested or not, but somewhere along the way both parties expressed interest to each other therefore an offer was extended.

It's pretty common but Jon Miller can't cry anymore when Notre Dame, Michigan St, or Wisconsin comes in and steals a Hawkeye commit. I remember a couple years back when Iowa lost a kid to Notre Dame and Charlie Weis was the devil to Jon

You have a faulty memory. What Kirk has said and done is this:

If a player is commited elsewhere they ask if they can keep in contact. If the player says yes they do. If the player says no he stops.

What Kirk and others have decried is this:

Coaches keep contacting players who are commited and have told said coach to leave them alone and not contact them. Fat Charlie and others would bug the H..l out of commits when the commits have asked them to not contact them anymore.

It is 2 very different things.

So does this mean Hill isn't totally sold on the ISU commitment, and is looking for better offers? Wouldn't he just say thanks, but no thanks to Kirk?

There is a difference between offering a committed player and continuing to recruit a committed player that tells you he is solid to the orignal school.

Who's crying now?

Ferentz has always been upfront about recruiting other school's commitments. He says that he always just asks if they're still interesting in hearing from Iowa, and if they say no he doesn't want to pester them.

And if a kid answers yes to that question, how committed are they, really? I've never been one who gets upset at other schools "poaching" recruits from Iowa.

If a kid is going to be a waste of a scholly because he's not happy why would a team want them?
Let them be as sure as possible where they want to go and will be better for everyone.

Oh wow what a tool you are.....and you provide where he cried all about that? Nobody cries more than clown fans.

IDK anything about this kid. Lots of big programs looking, but not a lot of big offers. Is he a B1G RB? Or more likely a position change like DB?

Watched his clips. Hard to tell because he is playing against a bunch of tiny kids. Doesn't seem to particularly have a second gear and doesn't have much wiggle. But that just might be the competition.

Still would say I think I see a safety.

CAAR CF is a 4A program so he may not have been playing the best competition but it certainly wasn't 7man FB.
ARob had no 2nd gear but was productive and the "wiggle" part I'm not sure is the best thing unless they are an elite player. IMO Iowa's best option is guys just like him that know how to run in traffic and pick holes AS they open. BW was a stellar HS RB but Heelan opened holes for him and he ran through them. He was just learning how to run in traffic when he forgot the raincoat or he'd still be performing well for Iowa. Coker ran in traffic in HS and he has shown his ability. I get nervous when I see film where guys always break outside and outrun everyone. It doesn't work that way in college.
IMO KF see's him as he does most players, intent on playing a certain position with enough athletic ability to play alot of positions.
I looked through some film yesterday and the Tevin Coleman kid listed as a RB made some fantastic hits and plays from the S position so I think he is in the same mold.
