Barkley Hill Tears ACL; Done for Year

One would think at this point(or quite some time ago) that the staff would be looking into anything possible as far as injury prevention.

Is there any chance there's something these guys are or arent doing in workouts? It seems like ACL is the injury every time. I realize RB will have some injuries to the knee but consistently tears?

how long has this guy been training at iowa?

also - maybe iowa should start to do a little anatomy research prior to extending an offer.......'notch' measurement??!! :)

Will obvioulsy they have right...?!?! With that said, we wouldn't know and I can't imagine there is much that can be done. Just because it keeps happening doesn't mean they haven't researched everything.

Yeah and just a few years ago it seemed many of the injuries were high ankle sprains. Maybe they adjusted for those with a different shoe or workout, that now is affecting the knee.

I don't necessarily think that the injuries alone at the RB position are all that uncommon. Playing RB is very strenuous on someone's body. Just look at the NFL--there's a reason most running backs never make it past 30 in the pros, and there have been all sorts of ACL tears/other serious leg injuries to even the best NFL backs (Adrian Peterson, Jamaal Charles, etc.).

Iowa's problem is all the RBs lost to off-the-field issues. Coker, Robinson, Wegher, Johnson, McCall to a certain extent, and I don't know the full story nor do I pretend to, but we really don't know why exactly Jewel Hampton left. Chances are a few of these guys would have dealt with serious injuries as well and one or two would have transferred for more playing time, but at the very least two of these guys should still be on Iowa's roster. The RB position has been hit by transfers, suspensions, dismissals, etc. harder than other position groups, and that's the factor that needs to be analyzed, not the injuries.

Playing running back at Iowa is like being Alderaan in Star Wars.
I was thinking drummers in Spinal Tap. :)
