Sorry I've been out of the loop on this one. Why is he still listed on the roster if he has left the program? Also, what's the recruiting class looking like for this year. I saw we added Kris Klappordt. Any others expected?

Recruiting ussauly hits a dry spell at this point, most recruits either make the decision before or after the season few do so during the season as their focus is on their senior year.

But as for future recruits I think you'l see Jason Tsirtsis give a verbal this summer. He's only a Jr. but he's #1 in the nation and there is obviously a connection with the program.

Baldy is gone, to bad because out of all the Freshmen he was the most ready when he walked in the room. I could go into detail why he is gone but I will leave it alone its a touchy subject with me. Also NO WAY DOES JASON T. sign with the Hawks!!! Just a little FYI

Any idea of what's going on with Nate and Nick Moore? What's the status with Dziewa? Will he get any mat time this year?

Someone with more knowledge can chime in, but what I've heard:

Nick Moore doing fine, wrestling well, was on the cusp of going to Midlands but has been beaten in open tourney(s) by Kelly, who got the nod instead. Am anxious to see him back in open competition. Kelly is clearly not yet AA caliber, so the weight is still wide open for the taking if/when StJ moves up to 165. Whoever can make bigger strides over the next 10 months.

Nate may be having an existential crisis that he needs to get through. Not a bad season, something like 7-1 after being pinned in his first match--and avenged that loss with a major. But he only decisioned a so-so UT-Chatt opponent in the dual, after which Brands has gone with Ramos at 133. Had a chance to win back the spot at Midlands, but opted not to go, which I feel was a big, big mistake. No official reason, but...he needs to keep pushing, keep looking ahead, get through this season and not cede 133 to Ramos and Clark. He has the talent to be NCAA champ, but he needs to develop mentally and get over the hump. When I watched his wrestle-off video with Clark, he looked to me like the "better" wrestler throughout the match, but couldn't seal the deal. No one has yet made a clear case that they own that weight (e.g. by winning Midlands).

Dziewa by all indications is still hurt with a fairly severe shoulder injury. I wouldn't expect to see him this year, but perhaps he can get a medical redshirt and be a "true" freshman again next year, which would give him four years to compete after Marion graduates. Word is he's a good, hard-working, talented kid. Will be interesting to see how he fares next year vs. Ballweg, who is now in the 13-18 range but not yet AA caiber.

Anyone with more updated or accurate info, please share.

I also heard that Nate had the flu, but apparently that was not the only reason he didn't go. No one seems to know (or is willing to give) the straight answer, but I'm hearing a lot of "not bought into the program," "mental issues," "weight issues." StJ had the flu as well, and he went. Nate went to Midlands to watch--so he wasn't bedridden. If you were Nate and were on a mission to take back the weight and become NCAA champ, and Midlands was your opportunity to prove that you should be the starter, it would take more than a mild flu to keep you from competing. Something is up, and I hope he and Brands get it resolved; he is too good to let down now.
