Balance of the season hinges on this game.

This is such an important game. Earlier this season someone created a thread asking what the most important game will be this season. I had the Wisconsin game I believe. I think someone or two put the Minny game. This is going to end up being the most important game for Iowa this season as right now they are at a crossroads. It is so vital for Iowa to play well and come out with a win this game. It's important to not have two losses in the West at this point.

More importantly, Ferentz could potentially lose this team if they faulter and come away with another loss. That new stadium hasn't been good to Iowa. They will need to find some way to keep possession of the ball and win the time of possession game to keep Leidner and co off the field. 3rd down conversions will be huge this game.

I'm a little pessimistic. The season was in the balance last week. We had a chance to win that game, but could not execute.

I think we get smoked Saturday. Beathard is a shell with that knee injury, and Vandeberg is gone.

It's not about winning and losing...its how you play the game. Right now, we suck at playing the game. If we suck less this week, it gives us a better chance to feel good about ourselves win or lose. That's all we all really want anyway. It would be great to get a ribbon this week (Floyd) though.

I feel certain kids need to step up, mainly every kid on both sides of the ball. We need a few breaks, we need confidence in executing our schemes... everybody and their dog sees we can't run, or stop the blitz....if we can somehow improve on those we might win, otherwise, we will continue to struggle....this is a make or break game imo....

Listen to the recent podcast. The first 5 minutes explains the absolute frustrations with this program under KF in regards to the offense.

Teams know what we're going to do. Last year we ran the ball better, and gave us more favorable 3rd downs. This year, not as much.

Basically if Iowa is in 3rd down:

3 WR, CJ under center huge % it'll be a pass
3 WR, CJ in Shotgun, 100% a pass

21 Formation on 3rd and short, 98% chance the run will be outside the tackles (stretch), No Passes

This is going to be embarrassing getting butt-whipped on the National stage several times. We don't even play a top 20 schedule and we are headed for the cellar.....well maybe Purdon't gets there ahead of us.

Gee ya think! This is why many of us have been screaming for quite awhile.

If Iowa doesn't win this game they will not go to a bowl..which is incredible to believe!!!

We're not good at mixing in wrinkles, are we?

I agree with the premise of the threads title. This is a very important game as we could still turn this season around and have a respectable season. However lose this one and it's going to be a very long season.

The guys at the Gazette mentioned what the Texas fans told us when we hired that dolt Davis...."he abandons the run waaaaaaaay to quick..."

If we are gashing people in the run game, he still wants balance. Why? I've never understood that. Let the big boys eat...should have run more against Rutgers and NW.

Last week the season we all hoped for(expected) was in the balance.

This week's game is whether the year can still be "average".

Win the week, the season likely will still be dissappointing given the expectations, but there will be hope for continued improvement and an average year.

Lose tomorrow, I can't see anything better than total...renal...failure.

I would just like to see a fairly officiated game. Two of our past three opponents have only been called for ONE penalty. Once would be bad but twice is just ridiculous. One penalty for a measly five yards for both NDSU and Northwestern. The Northwestern game was honestly the worst officiating I've seen in an Iowa game since the Outback Bowl against Florida.
