Babs #95 Super Bowl

Just think, if the Falcons would have KFed it with three runs after the Julio catch, they'd have won the Super Bowl. Maybe KF isn't such a bad coach after all. On second thought, I doubt anyone we play is as good as Tom so maybe not?

Too bad for Babs, Clayborn and the falcons as I mentioned in the Professional forum.

The Falcons blew that game more than the patriots won it. Sure it was an incredible come back, but look at some of these bonehead moves:

1) 3rd and 1 with a 19 point lead and 8.5 minutes remaining. The Falcons drop back to pass instead of running it and Matt Ryan fumbles. Even if you dont get the first down, you at least keep the clock running and punt the ball.

2) After Julio's amazing catch, Falcons had 1st and 10 from NE 22 yard line and 4:40 left on the clock. Matt Ryan takes a 12 yard sack and they pass again after that drawing a holding penalty...putting them out of FG range. Why not run the ball 3 times, force NE to burn all of their timeouts, and kick a field goal.

3) Edelman's miracle catch. The Falcons challenged the play with 2:03 left on the clock. Had they just waited 3 seconds to let the 2 minute warning hit they could have saved the timeout. Instead, by challenging the play, they lose their final timeout and gave New England a free timeout to run a 3 second play before the 2 minute warning.

Bottom line, the Falcons got too cute. Freeman averaged nearly 7 yards per carry, and yet when they needed to burn clock they threw the ball? It didnt make any sense at all and it cost them a super bowl.

Poor Babs. Said he still regrets the Hawks blowing the 24-7 lead vs. ISU in '02 that he thinks cost Iowa a chance to play for the national title, now this. Ouch.

is everything up and up in pro sports...........just wondering

IMO its hard to look at sports right now and think its completely 100% legit.

-Lebron returns home to Cleveland and then comes back from down 3-1 in the finals to beat the "unstoppable Warriors".
-The Cubs coming back from down 3-1 to win their first world series in over 100 years (in extra innings).
- Tom Brady gets suspended 4 games for deflategate and turned into a villain only to be "redeemed" by the greatest Super Bowl comeback ever (again, in overtime).

Just think, all of that happened within ONE CALENDAR YEAR. its like 3 sports movies that even disney couldnt dream up and they all happened within one calendar year. Are we truly supposed to believe that these were all 100% legit?

Coaches, players, and referees are all really good at acting it it's not totally legit.

Conservatism has its place. Aggressiveness has its place too. The key is to find the right balance

1 or 2 people in the right place can skew things in a certain way to make an outcome more likely. It doesn't guarantee anything, it just makes it more likely. There's so much money in sports these days (tv money, sponsorship money, gambling money, etc) that if you think there aren't people trying to corrupt things to their own advantage you dont know how the world works.

Add it to the list of crazy conspiracy theories. Not like we don't have enough of those, right?

Are you saying teams aren't already cheating to try and gain a competitive advantage? Deflategate, PED's in baseball, HGH in football, recruiting at Louisville (strippers), academic fraud at UNC, "come bang white women" at baylor? The list goes on and on that proves teams and people will do whatever it takes to win and as a result make more money. The proof is right in front of you that money is king in sports, ethics be damned. You can choose to wear blinders all you want, that's your choice.

With regard to #2, if the officials don't ignore the facemask by the Pats on Sanu, that is a replay and not a loss of yardage via the holding call.

As to Babs, on the winning TD he was absolutely mauled by two Pats OL. The PI two plays was also a bit ticky-tack.

I choose to be inspired by it.
