B1G Title Game

I may be mistaken, but I think it was a general commentary on the fact that you bring nothing to any of the discussions contained within this site.

Also you skip over posts that actually look to insight intelligent conversation and simply pick off the low hanging fruit. You can see my post in the B1G running backs thread for an example of this.

Who am I flaming? The ACC has had their game in Charlotte, Tampa, and Jacksonville, the Big 12 has had Dallas and KC, the SEC has Atlanta.

In what freaking universe does Indianapolis and Detoit compare to that?

Let's have the SEC title game in New York, the ACC in LA, and the Big 12 in Tampa.

That doesn't make a whole hell of a lot of sense, does it? So, why are we comparing Indy/Detroit to those cities? Conferences play their title games within their footprint. Which leaves Detroit, Indianapolis, Minneapolis, and Chicago as the only logical choices. Of those, Indianapolis is the best choice.

Just another veiled shot at the Big Ten. Indianapolis sucks. But it's the best that the Big Ten can do. Therefore the Big Ten sucks.

How does Indianapolis not compare to Charlotte, Tampa, Jacksonville or KC?

Once again you have no idea what you're talking about.

Are you serious? I have been to all 5 cities, and have lived in 2, and Indianapolis (one of which I have lived in) is by far the worst. Indy and Jacksonville are probably the most white trash major cities I have ever been to, but at least Jax has 100 miles of beach.

Have the game in Chicago.

I am not pleased with the concept of Indy getting both fb and bb tournys every year. What exactly has Indy done to lure the Big Ten to spur their economy? Not much as far as I can tell.
Either move the bb tourny back to chicago,or move the BT fb title game to chicago.
The NFL plays football games for another two months after the Big Ten Title game...outside...yea I know,it is amazing, isn't it? The very concept that football can be played in dec and jan outside in the midwest...nuts,right?
The fact is that Soldier Field is usually warmed by Lake Michigan at that time of year, which is about 42 degrees around that time....so it is going to be in the 40's...ohmigod....playing football in 45 degrees? Crazy.

What are the highest rated NFL games? Snow games. Fans are crazy about games like that.
As a biased Iowa fan, I see bad weather generally favoring our grind it out offensive attack. It also helps our basic defensive approach, with a slower track usually helping us. Now, last year, with our rb injuries, and a senior NFL drafted qb,that might not have been true, but generally it is.
A weekend in Chicago in early december is great for women looking to shop,as well as men looking for football. Christmas in the City....beats the antiseptic Hoosier dome.
At least rotate it.

The B1G is looking into having the BT Basketball tourney on a rotating schedule again.

I love the city of Chicago, but Soldier Field sucks big time. The turf is god awful in September let alone in December. The stadium itself is not fan friendly. Ever sit in the upper deck? Its like watching from the top of the Sears (Willis) Tower. Just please have it in the nice stadium in Indy permanently.

Those of you who keep saying "Indianapolis sucks"...huh...have you #1--ever been there, or #2--ever been to a major sporting event there.

The answer is yes and yes in my case. They roll out the red carpet, and really put forth an effort to host big events in a positive way.

Chicago on the other hand..."eh, it's another game....Iowa who?"

And if you argue with that, then tell me you went to the Iowa/NIU game and didn't find that to be the case. CPD was ill-prepared/mannered in so many ways, it almost ruined the event for me. No way that happens in Indianapolis.

The fact the game is held in a "3rd rate city" (laughable) won't detract for one second the product on the field or the event overall. You're not there to tour the city are you? No...you're there to attend a game in a fan-friendly venue. And Lucas/surrounding area is fan-friendly...much more so than Soldier Field.

Atlanta blows as a town in a million ways, yet, the SEC champ game is pretty darned exciting. Once the game starts, for people watching on TV (where the majority of the revenue comes in from anyway)...venue-city matters little.

The in-laws lived in Indy and I have been to Colts and Pacers games. I don't hate Indy, but people only really go to Indy to attend an event, because the city just doesn't offer anything in itself. They do a decent job of hosting events, but hospitality only goes so far.

And for the person who says we don't go to tour the city, I do. That is why I have gone to every Hawk bowl game since 2005, but didn't go to the Insight, because I can't stand Phoenix.

And yes, it is a third rate city. First are NYC, LA, and Chicago. Second are San Fran, Seattle, Boston, Miami...

In other words, the resident SEC fan can't exactly point and laugh at the fact that the Big Ten uses a third-rate city for its title game. I don't see Atlanta, Tampa, or Jacksonville on that list of second-rate cities (IIRC, didn't Jacksonville pretty much get called a dump when it hosted the Super Bowl?).

I honestly have to ask, since you are just being obtuse. Are you like a 17 year old Iowa high school student who has never lived anywhere in the country EXCEPT Iowa?

Because that seems to be the only way you could, with a straight face, compare Indianapolis to Atlanta, Jacksonville, or Tampa. Look, I am not going to go to bat for Jax. That place is Kentucky with beaches. Indy, however, is Kentucky without beaches and more auto racing. Therefore, Jax > Indy.

Does anyone have any good info on where the coaches think they should play? Seems to me our opinions dont really matter much. Let the coaches vote on it and be done with it. We have to trust they are the ones who know best. Our site seeing and such play no role in where the best place to play ball is at.

Fans opinion is a huge, if not the largest factor IMO

Your not going to sit there and tell me, all the fans have been to both sites, are you? KF has. KF knows what it takes to prepare for a bowl, KF knows, the injury risk ect. Sorry if I value his opinion more than somebody who wants a place where the women have good shopping close by, while the men go to the game. Catch my drift? Not saying women dont go to football games, just trying to make a point.

Indianapolis is a much, much better option for hosting a championship game than Jacksonville or Tampa. Jacksonville is a **** hole of a city that is all spread out and not set up to host any major sporting event. Indianapolis has the perfect down town area for hosting this type of event. There's a reason why the NFL has the combine there, fans going there for the championship game just want a place that's easy to get around, and has plenty of hotels and bars right by the stadium. Indy is a great choice for that and it also has a nice, new airport.

I'm not surprised at all that whatever ******* slum you lived in Indianapolis was pretty ****** but I'm not moving there, I'm going to watch one game.

u mad?

Honestly, outside of some sort of bizarre regional urination competition that people want to have with me, why are some people so against a bad word being said about...Indianapolis? You guys realize we're talking about...Indianapolis right?

So what would you suggest that the Big Ten do? Have their title game in Dallas? Yeah, makes perfect sense, what with all the Big Ten teams from Texas. Indianapolis is the best choice IN THE REGION. Is it the best city in the country to host an event? No. But it's the best choice that makes any sense for the Big Ten.

But, I'm sure you already understand that. Flame on, good sir.

Well if we are not going by what's best for the teams and instead what the fans want, I vote for Alaska. I have always wanted to see Alaska. We could make an inflatable dome (like MN) and put some heaters in there. We would have a plastic dome and heaters, sweeeet. Then we could go all woodstock on it, blankets, mud sliding, and they do have medical mj there.

Not mad at all, just wondering why someone is defending Jacksonville and Tampa. We're talking about Jacksonville. Your main argument is that Jacksonville is better than Indy because they have beaches, well we're talking about a football game in December, what the **** do beaches have to do with that?

Once again you fail to use any sort of basic logic in any of your arguments. Give me any legit reason why Tampa or Jacksonville are better suited to host a title game than Indy.
