B10 media days

Was he the Cardinal's QB on the original Tecmo Bowl?
I know he played for the Cardinals in the early to mid eighties so that could very well be correct. He could have put up Marino like numbers if he was in the AFC in those days, with Ottis Anderson, Roy Green, and that bunch. But he played against those fierce pass rushes in the old NFC East back then, not to mention the Bears, Vikings and 49ers.

He played at Portland State and put up ridiculous video game type numbers against second tier college competition. He played for run and shoot guru Mouse Davis, who would be an NFL offensive coordinator about ten years later for the Oilers (And Falcons? When Jeff George was there?)

Neil Lomax not only set the record as the oldest fifty something senior in the history of the conference, he changed sides of the ball and became an African American in the process.:p

Jordan Lomax, however, had a nice career as a Hawkeye, however. Until he was isolated one on one against Christian McCaffrey in the Rose Bowl.

Lol, I can't believe I mixed up Neil Lomax and Jordan Lomax. The worst part is, I don't think was the first post I did that. I think I have been calling him Neil for years. My apologies to Jordan, who had a decent career and deserves to be remembered by the right name.

Jordan Peart is a pretty good drummer too!

:D

My 2 cents is Hesse, Matt Nelson and Reynolds.... If there's a curveball to be thrown I could see Recinos going or say Kelly one of our fullbacks maybe even Mends as a reward for his sticking in program all this time and then the crappy luck of getting hurt like he did and when he did.... I don't see any juniors going this year. Too many seniors to pick from that are just exactly 'Kirks kinda guys'

I know he hasn't paid his dues yet, but I would love to see AJ Eppy there. What's the point of getting a Lamborghini if you aren't going to show it off.

Small Senior class - only 13. Not surprised about Stanley. Those were going to be my 3. ;)

I think its a great sign Stanley is going. KF doesn't send guys there for the hell of it.
This is what I like "for the most part" because MOST coaches send those who are deserving regardless of stats. You get a good picture of kids who will make solid contributions and be leaders for their various units. It's a great picture of our student-athletes.

i thought it had to be (or kirk only takes) SR's. My lead pipe locks are: Hesse and Easley. Then either Hockaday/Mends/Snyder/Gevase. Of those, I'll say Snyder.

Hesse
Easley
Snyder

Hesse being the only one that really deserves it based on performance. The other two are kirk's guys who are "program" guys. Can't be flashy.

I don't think will be Snyder with his transgression.

It's Parker Hesse, Matt Nelson and Nate Stanley.

Big Ten announced it today.

I had 2 of 3. Missed Stanley. I had Render. #NewKirk

I also got 2 out of 3. I predicted Hesse and Stanley.

I am really surprised that my 3rd pick, Noah Fant is not going. He is the only consensus pre-season all BigTen guy on the Iowa team, and likely to leave early for the NFL draft after his junior year. I am sorry, but Fant is the one guy the media wants to see. Oh well, if he sticks around for his senior year, then he can go next year.

I’m gonna go a step farther and say Gervase starts over him. I’m glad Snyder fixed himself, or talked to Jeebus, or whatever he did, but Gervase has had sloppy seconds too many times (undeservedly, Snyder’s not as good as he thinks he is), and has earned the shot.

With Fant’s slightly cocky side it wouldn’t surprise me a bit if he and KF stay at arm’s length. He’s not a sociopathic idiot like DJK by any means, but I think he’s more outspoken than normal for Iowa. Kirk likes the quiet, blue collar farm kid image even they aren’t always blue collar farm kids.

That and I think he sends seniors.

Fant wasn’t selected to the leadership group by his teammates. I don’t think KF has taken anybody not in that group. Could be missing someone, though.

2 out of 3 will get you in the HOF Rob. I was right there with ya with Reynolds instead of Render as my 3rd. I was almost certain he was going to throw a curveball and had Recinos or a fullback go. This would have been the year to do that since Stanley should get to go next yr too. (assuming he doesn't have a monster year and go pro)
That all said I like that Stanley is going he should be the face of the program and this pretty much is KF putting the keys in his hand.
