Auburn #1

If I've said it once, I've said it a hundred times - to me, this is just basketball. If our coaches aren't altar boys, it wouldn't bother me in the slightest. I watch basketball for the entertainment factor, nothing more.

Sure would like to taste a Sweet 16 or beyond. ONE since 1988. Yeah, I'd prefer to do it the "right way", but clearly for Iowa, the right way has a pretty low ceiling. I know - things ain't changing. I get it.

Go ahead and roast me all you want, but this Sweet 16 drought is causing me some serious fatigue with this program.

Would not want, nor would that guy ever come here. Bruce Pearl probably doesn't even remember where Iowa City is anymore.

Chuck Person didn't just go rogue and start getting involved with the Adidas bribery deal on his own, folks. He was told to do it and I guarantee you Brucie paid a hefty sum of money to Person to keep his own ass out of jail. All those shitbag coaches use assistants as fall guys to insulate themselves from trouble. How else do you think the Teflon Dons Calipari and Pitino have stayed outta jail cells while TONS of people associated with them have gone down in flames?

Person is no different than young Henry Hill getting pinched, keeping his mouth shut in court, and getting pats on the backs from Pauly and the boys. Different movie, but Bruce Pearl might as well be named Ace Rothstein.
Oh he knows where Iowa City is at he was recruiting the Murray Twins.

I'd rather not cheer for a team under sanctions, probation or suspensions - and it wouldn't matter if we had 5 national titles the last 20 years. While I don't think he's done anything that damning in my mind, he's a known and proven liar who has always skirted the rules in order to win.

I've always liked Bruce and I've always wanted him at Iowa - but after the Auburn stuff, at some point you have to say "Really?... again? How morally bankrupt can you accept?" - what kind of car sales shady bullshit is going on here

Winning isn't THAT important to me - I'm just a fan - I'd rather not cheer for scum bags.

His schtick would get really tired if you aren't going to final fours. After reading 99topdawg's post and just overall observations you understand why kids like playing for him besides the money handshake. It is the used car salesman vibe that he puts out that's kinda gross to me.

"How morally bankrupt can you accept?"

There are degrees of moral bankruptcy. Like on one hand there is something like Enron setting up a futures platform and crashing the power grid in California or Chairman Mao killing tens of millions during the Great Leap Forward that are pretty bad. And then there are things like arranging for a booster to give an otherwise disadvantaged young man a few hundred dollars to help him get through some tough times or inviting Aaron Craft to your house for a barbecue and then telling some pencil necked cuck at the NCAA a little white lie about the incident. I can accept quite a lot of the latter because it is stupid bullshit that doesn't have an actual negative effect on any person.

Yeah, the latter isn't the kind of stuff I would lose any sleep over as a fan.

After tonight, Pearl would be a breath of fresh air....maybe he could buy a complete team.
Sorry but Auburn just extended him...for life. This is how the SEC gets to be what they are and they are goin' for it in basketball now too. Watch out :)

Might just say hey, with this NIL thing, he can get shit done in a way where no big punishment will come about so lock him up. Actual good timing and smart move by Auburn.

Well shit.....not like Barta could ever make it happen here anyway...he would interview dozens of candidates before him and then give him an average offer to coach here and we would lose him to another school.
