At what point do you start White?

Yes I know he gets plenty of playing time coming off the bench but come on. Fran knows what is best for his team so I'm not being critical of it I just think he's earned it. They are clearly a better team with him on the floor and I would rather not wait until the 14-15 minute mark to see him. You have to think this is going to happen at some point.

Fran's done a really nice job of easing White into his 6th man role and you'd think if he keeps his play up he'd be a starter halfway through the conference season - at the latest.

I hope so, that young man plays with energy. I do think it will happen, it is nice to have him come in and provide a spark too.

Tonight. Along with Cartwright. Yes it's earned it but more so then that he's better then who's playing ahead if him.

I think he's shown that he's a spark off the bench. McCabe picks up 2 quick fouls and he comes in and dominates. McCabe hit some good shots against wisky and is a strong body down low so it's a tough situation.

Cartwright didn't earn it back in just because the good game he had against Wisconsin, not yet he needs to be more consistent.

it has been his stamina is the issue
lets face it a fully charged White ready to play multiple minute in the 2nd half is needed down the stretch as his stamina improves his minutes will improve
i see him starting from day one next season
as he is more valuable to the team coming in off the bench this season

Now. What's wrong with this line-up? I see no reason that May and McCabe can't come off the bench. Their playing styles would be perfect to provide spark if we needed a little jolt.

Cartwright
Gatens
Marble
White
Basabe

Amen to that. Alittle more Olesani wouldn't hurt off the bench either.

What Cartwright did last year along with last game is what has earned him his starting job. If he's healthy he should get the nod.

I agree. I don't get the "yeah but he is great coming off the bench". Yes, and he can be great starting the game too.

Leave him where he is. I like the idea of freshmen coming off the bench.

Of course that all changes next year :)

Isnt Jason a senior?? I think his time has passed. Least he got to be number 2 on the depth chart all year.

I don't think White will start all season and that is fine. McCaffrey has a good flow to his rotation and not starting White keeps him from picking up early fouls and gives us a spark off the bench if we suck to start the game.

You start White when he proves that he can play defense at a B10 level.

Also, talent wise he can dominate against the other teams 2nd unit.

I don't think you start him this year, i don't remember which game (might of been boise state) but he had a good game and talked with the sideline reporter and said how he studies the game on the bench, watches the person he will be gaurding and just tries to get a feel for how to gaurd them. so I'm fine with him coming off the bench as a freshman and let him watch the game a bit before getting in.

Anyone that has played ball knows that it pisses you off if you are one of the best players and not starting. Doesn't matter who is getting the minutes and who is in at the end. Its all about being a starter. Theres no worse feeling than working with the B team in practice when you know you should be starting.
