Assistant Coach Raises

A couple of things come to mind:
  • How is it decided who gets how much of a raise? Is there some sort of incentive structure in place? If so, what does it look like?
  • I don't usually put a ton of thought into the "nepotism" cries, but the largest raise (percentage-wise) going to the coordinator of a unit that struggled mightily for much of the season seems out of bounds. KF has to realize the terrible optics of that, right? Does that have any influence on staff morale?
Sometimes they say: The answer tothe question is the is the question itself....Go Hawks!

Well, if by plausible deniability you mean he took in the rankings of Iowa's offense in the GD years and said "Hey, look, Brian is clearly qualified to be the OC at UTEP and we have an offense on par with theirs so let's hire him" then yes, I agree.

Well I don't think our opinions about how Brian was hired are that far off, let's just say that.

There is no doubt this was part of the pass Brian got in getting the job. The fan base had had their limit with GD's lack of a vertical passing game, so accepting Brian as the OC, well, was a welcome change. I will tell you though, I think he's a lot more progressive than people realize. He just needs the experience (QB & OL) to show it. I think they make some serious strides this year...and Fry and Sirius eat some crow. Although the road map to discrediting it has already been laid. KOK deserves the recognition.

There was a reason why KOK left the first time...his fan club became the Greg Davis fan club after he left.

I think Brian has a fair amount of potential. He might end up being pretty good. That o-line was so bad last year it's hard to tell what he can do when he has a normal line to work with. That said, there is nothing objectively on the guy's resume that says he should be a coordinator making what he makes at a program like Iowa.

He likes average football. I'm sure he'd be impressed with me. ;)
