We just as well not show up...they are going to beat us easily. Most predictions from their fan base have them scoring over 30 points....LOL!

Iowa vs Arizona Predictions - GOAZCATS.com Message Board

I do think this will be a tough game....but I'm not sure how they can expect to score 30 plus....they didn't even score an offensive TD until the last 2 minutes last season in garbage time.

Home cooking will be worth some points. The time zone change, crowd, late kickoff and temps should account for something.

I like that Iowa had some success playing night games vs good teams on the road the past couple years. Honestly I think Iowa has to play 10-14 points better than Az to win this one, and I think they can. I don't think we have seen even close to everything from Iowa yet.

Most of those predictions have them winning by a TD or less or losing. That seems fairly realistic to me.

Any prediction that sees this Iowa defense giving up over 30 points is not realistic. This Arizona team could BARELY score an offensive TD last season, now they're going to score 30? C'mon man. That shouldn't happen.

This will, in my opinion, give us a REALLY good idea at how good this Iowa team is. If we can go in there and win, which I think we can, a lot can be said about how we will match up with similar offenses like Michigan.

Early prediction......Iowa 27 Arizona 13

Their fans need to be more than confident, they better also be loud to drown out all the Hawk fans that will be there next week.

Iowa State was confident too. All their players were better than Iowa's. Our offense wouldn't be able to deal with their defensive speed. Bla bla bla..I feel your pain.

Arizona is the toughest team Iowa has faced to date, but they are not the toughest Iowa will face this year. Arizona has a very good offense, Nick Foles is a definate NFL prospect. Nic Grigsby can be a problem if he gets in the secondary. Their defense is not as capable as they had to replace a lot of people.

It's gonna be tough but Arizona struggles against big, physical teams. Iowa State isn't exactly playing a world beater but they're head and shoulders better than Toledo and the Citadel.

Iowa 24 AZ 13

The Iowa defense hasn't given up 30 points in a game since 2007.

That being said, Iowa gave up 44 points the last time they played a night game in Arizona.

Hopefully no one assumes this will be a cake walk.

that was (other than the first year) the worst game of the Ferentz era. Totally unprepared. And the worst thing about that game is that Arizona State team ended up going something like 5-7.

BUT I think they'll learn from that and this year's team will be ready.

I have a healthy respect for the Cats. Foles is very good, unlike the first two qbs we have faced. He will pick us apart with his short passing game,at least between the 20's. They will likely be ranked this week, are at home in a desert stadium, and have blown out their first two foes,so I would be shocked if their fans did not pick them to upset Iowa.

I have Iowa winning 24-23...in a thriller.

When looking at last year we need to keep in mind we didn't face the Foles we'll see next week.

The time, the heat, first road game of the year, better opponent, our style of play....I expect a close game with Iowa pulling out a narrow victory.

And will be yelling at the 45 yard line 36 row with my black & gold bibs in the 100 degree heat...

I flew on a flight next to a Cats fan. He was all confident that they would win. Said Foles is the QB of the future, and he really turned it on at the end of the season (Should have won the Pac-10). I asked what bowl game they went to (Fully Known, and then asked the score). Said, wow... Thats impressive..... Jack A$$....

Foles does look good, but he is VERY slow and if any pressure is put on him, expect a lot of INTs.

Well, here's what's working FOR Arizona

Home field advantage, and all the benefits that come with it (weather/environment, stadium/turf, crowd). You also have the entire late start and all that, which could play a role as well.

We didn't face Foles last year, until the end of the game, where he led them down the field for the sole offensive TD. He had a full year of games after that.

However, with sufficient preparation, and a healthy team, I think we can beat them. Plus, they got crushed by Nebraska in the bowl game last year. They haven't faced too many good defenses.

Foles will also not be able to just sit in the pocket and throw the ball down the field freely as he has been the last 2 weeks. He is not a mobile qb and will have to deal with our front four in his face all night- this could be a showcase night for our front four because of this. I see Clayborn in his face (or on his back) all night. And when he's not because of AZ's double and triple teaming him then any combination of the other 3 will be counting coup. People (nationwide) will take notice of our defense after this game and we won't see any more poll drops after winning a game. Plus, I think we will be able to run the ball against a new AZ defense which equals time of possession domination which, as we all know, means AZ's offense is sitting on the bench and last time I checked it was very hard to throw a touchdown from the bench. Iowa 27-14
