Are you confident

That we can successfully recruit them? Fairly confident

That they will perform / exist in our system and become "All Conference": Zero chance

how confident are you about Iowa’s ability to recruit all-conference/ NFL WR and QBs?
No confidence at all but with the exception of some break out seasons here or there, these 2 positions have always been a black hole at the university of Iowa.

So, it's not even coach specific, I have no confidence that Iowa will every recruit all conference/NFL WR's and QB's and I have like a 100 years of history on my side to back that up

Until we do it I don't have any... McNutt/DJK the last couple really good WRs we've had? Brandon Smith, ISM and Tavaun Smith were all capable athletes we under used (thanks BF) but even they were a over a recruiting cycle ago. Lester is off on right foot I'd say but he's not over the hump yet. Not by any means

Based on decades of data, I'm about zero percent confident. I HOPE Iowa can have decent QB play (with Sully, maybe?) in the next year, but the recruiting level at Iowa for these skill positions is really rough. Iowa generally recruits in the #30-50 range (team rankings) but even that is based on getting good LB, TE, OL, DL, guys.

Recruiting isn't even worth paying attention to now unless it's an in-state kid who was a Hawk fan from birth. Athletes can flip and transfer at will...why even consider it? Not being sarcastic.

Until they start signing contracts there's no such thing as a committal, and even if they do they can leave whenever they want if they get a bigger offer or don't get the playing time they want.

The QB/WR receiver situation is interesting. WR's need QB's to get the ball and QB's need WR's to get open. We don't have receivers that can get open which kills our ability to recruit QB's and we don't have QB's that can get the ball to the WR's which kills our ability to recruit WR's. We have/had TE's but didn't seem to get them involved enough this year to really benefit either position right now so I guess the question is who comes first the QB or the WR. Can't seem to answer the Chicken or the egg scenario and I think this one's going to be even harder to figure out.

You make a good point on TE usage. I'm curious if Lester's scheme does not utilize tight ends. That could potentially affect future recruiting at this position, which we have done fairly well at.
