Archie and Brommer

I had extremely low expectations for these two before the season started, but both have managed to play under the near ground level bar I had in mind. Seriously, we have close to 14 feet of nothingness with these two guys and I don't get it.

Brommer gets some slack because of his knee injury, but he has looked brutal. As predicted by myself and others, DArch managed to hurt himself (again)...this time on a dunk. I don't have a degree from MIT, but there are literally hundreds of dunks each week in colllege hoops, yet everybody else manages the act without injuring themselves. Somehow DArch defied the odds and is the .00001% that misses time due to an injury sustained on a dunk.

DArch should have been given the speech when McCaffrey arrived about pursuing greener pastures. I never thought I would say this, but DArch makes me miss Cougill. In retrospect, we should erect a statue of DArch to serve as a reminder of the Lickliter Era....sort of like Frodo melting the ring in molten lava to ensure it does not fall into the wrong hands again.

Wow you are a dbag. The team as a whole is not good. Did you need to call out these two players. As you said you knew they wouldnt be that good. So thanks for your dumb thoughts.

Agree with you hawkihoops. Archie should have been told to get his degree because there would be no 5th year scholly for you. The guy is a walking accident waiting to happen.

I had incredibly low expectations when I clicked on your post. You where able to get below that bar.

I'm holding out hope that Brommer will begin to step up and improve a little as the season progresses. Someone needs take some pressure off Mel, Zach and Aaron down low.

Those 3 stand to benefit greatly by the addition of 2 quality bigs next season as well as (hopefully) the development of Olesani. They may lose some minutes as they settle into their natural positions and roles, but their per minute production stands to increase dramatically.

Yeah, kind of like you starting threads to bash KF or to be a smartass about how we don't want Stoops.

Pot meet kettle, kettle meet pot.

The OP has a valid point. Archie and Brommer have been ghosts this year. My prediction for Archie was a torn labia. He proved me right.

Brommer has been the biggest mystery but he has been hurt since the end of hoops last year so I'm sure that has a lot to do with it.

If we had any inside presence at all, this team would be exponentially better. Other teams know we are weak on the inside, vertically challenged and very limited in depth. Go at our bigs, get them in foul trouble or just shoot over them. Either way they win.

They were both odd recruits. Neither performed at a level that would indicate future success in the B1G. I said this when each of these guys were offered. It just didn't really make sense.

So I don't blame either guy, but Lick for recruiting them and Fran for retaining them. And before you all jump on me answer this question, "would you rather struggle on a bad team at a level that at which you are not equipped to succeed, or be competent on a decent team at your appropriate level?"

I could see blaming Fran if we had lots of options and low schollies but that wasn't the case. I believe he tried hard to recruit over them both. I agree with the rest of what you said.

Hey man its cool Hawkeye12345 is on your side. We all know hes a cool dude.

Sides? Apparently your intellect is as shallow as your vocabulary. Do you really roll with people who throw out dbag in conversation? How silly of me to ask, of course you do.

Stick to You Tube there champ, it is more your speed than a message board that requires forming complete sentences.

To those that responded intelligently (agree or disagree)....thank you. I will be at CHA Saturday night rooting for the Hawks, so although I am disappointed in the performace, I will still show up to suport them. I am sure the trolls will enjoy getting hammered on Nati Lite watching the game in their parent's basement aka crib. Keep it real message board bad azzes.

Honestly, Lick wasn't going to get any better recruits and I have no issues with Fran not telling them to walk.

Iowa had so many players leave in the last decade, the bleeding had to stop somewhere and the stance that Fran took by not having players walk was a good move.
Iowa could have been in a situation like St. John's and force themselves to recruit close to a double digit number class...it hasn't worked out too well for St. John's as four of their incoming players are not there.
Then you look at another unnamed program who has brought in any available transfer that will go there and they can't win either, so I still believe that the best way to build a program is through the ground up and Iowa is doing that.
The to be junior class is solid with Marble and Basabe having real potential and McCabe could be a great bench player.
The to be sophomore class is also solid with Oglesby having a chance to be one of the "guys" we love to leave wide open from three ball land. White has loads of potential and will be very, very good in his time at Iowa.
The to be freshman have the potential stars and will provide much needed heigth and some much needed athleticism. They give Iowa everything that they lack at this point: size, athleticism, depth at PG, rebounding and defensive ability.

Yeah, he has done a great job at that.
