Apathy or rage suppression?

Can't decide ... I've either lowered my expectations to the point that I'm apathetic to an Indiana loss, or I'm suppressing my anger and I'll eventually end up exploding at work and stabbing a co-worker.

Go with apathy.. they aren't very good. Hawkeye football has been plain boring for several years now. Even some of those great seasons were really just some lucky bounces....or blocked PATs

Offensively this program has been poor for going on about 13 years now

I'm still cautiously optimistic. We played well today and will beat Purdue and then beat Mich and Neb. With help, we can still get in the title game.

I'm not apathetic! I'm mother ******* ****** off!

****** off was two years ago.

Disgusted was last year.

This year Im accustomed to it and accept that Iowa will lose most games against opponents of a similar caliber due to coaching.

Iowa has no answers in the coaching department only problems.

I'm headed towards apathy. I'm worried that KF will stick around even if he keeps losing...a lot. The buyout is pretty big. So, I actually am really rooting for the guy to have a great year next year, because we're stuck with him either way, right?

I bounced around between grief and anger from 2006 thru 2009. Mostly contained to losses but pretty much non-stop toward The Corporal's ever reliable gaffes. Even when the team was able to win, I still found myself upset over the obstacles they constantly had to overcome due to his risk-aversive, play-not-to-lose, repeatedly-bang-your-head-against-the-wall-in-predictable-futility strategy and his mind-numbing lack of situational adjustments to attack the opponent's weaknesses with the team's strengths. Still, it tended to subside quickly because the team was always competitive and, more than not, found a way to win, in spite of him.

It turned to all-out rage in 2010, which was the first time the team lost numerous games due to simply being outcoached and unprepared for the most basic situations (fake punts, numerous 3rd or 4th and long conversions with the game on the line and no sense of urgency, lack of discipline with untimely penalties, etc.) I never expected the Hawks to win every game but I always expected them to have a chance because you could count on them to be competitive, disciplined and competent in their execution, despite being handcuffed by their limited schemes, strategies and philosophies. 2010 was when The Corporal was completely exposed and it's become an agonizing tailspin into this - one of the worst Hawkeye teams I've seen in 33 years of following them.

So, for me, while I still respect Kirk Ferentz, the man, and I still have season tickets and attend every home game + a couple away, I lost all respect for Corporal Kurt, the coach, a couple years ago. I'm still a Hawkeye fan and want to see THE HAWKEYES win, but, I'm numb to the losses. I've grown to expect them because I realize their leadership will always handicap their opportunities for success.

I'm at the point where I am far more entertained by the sarcasm and punking as the train wreck plays out just to cope through the game. Is that apathy, denial or suppression? Beats me but I'm laughing a lot more and able to get to sleep.

I'll second this.

apathy all the way. after the ISU game I knew this team sucked. After the CMU game, I just stopped caring. I got more upset over other teams today than I did at the hawks.
