Anyone see the handshake after the game? Fran - Bruce

I think it was more of an ill be here next year and you won't handshake.
Yeah, sort of the better you than me and dead coach walking kind of meeting. very quick, not the end of a tournament "your guys played well" type of meeting

I dont see every post game hand shake but it looked like most of the ones i do catch. i doubt it was anything more than a post game handshake. Had he not shaken his hand at all, pulled a harbaugh, or whispered sweet nothings in his ear then i would be concerned

I think the losing coach should always dictate the length of the hand shake. weber just coached his last game and probably wasn't in the mood to chit chat

How often is that people talk about Iowa getting back to recruiting Chicago, but Illinois has a ton of kids from Chicago, how has that worked out for him?

Weber has lost control of the program, look at the way his players play, very selfishly, they have a world of talent, but don't play together...at some point the coach is blamed.

The blow by was not a surprise, I think both Fran and Weber know what is coming...it is and awkward situation.

Just because Illinois has underachieved with Chicago players, doesn't mean we shouldn't establish a presence there.

I don't doubt that a lot of these coaches lack maturity and have acquired an ego.

It wouldn't surprise me if they try to give as little credit as possible to Fran for the simple fact that they feel threatened by Fran's coaching ability.

I know I may sound like a Homer when I say that, but really... what other reason is there for some of the behavior that a few of these coaches have displayed?

I would love to give credit to Lick as much as anyone, because I hate to think that he was a waste of time/money, and was nothing but detrimental to Iowa Basketball... but he really deserves no credit for what Fran and this Iowa team has accomplished so far and the direction they seem to have this program headed.
There is always a conspiracy theory, isn't there.

What makes anyone think that a coach can't stick up for the guy that got canned without disliking the guy that came in after him. Why is it that if two guys meet and shake hands that people always have to read something into it? They didn't talk for ten seconds, only three.

Whatever.

Has anyone here ever wondered what it would be like if a bunch of people with nothing better to do watched what you did all day and then tried to figure out the meaning behind each piece of minutia that you went through on that day?

So, to recap: It's not always that people are out to get Iowa and sometimes maybe people are just concentrating on things other than the perfect Kodak moment with an opposing coach right after the game.

Conspiracy theory? What? Not once did in my post did I make the handshake out to be anything more than it was.

My comment about how I wouldn't be surprised if coaches felt threatened by Fran... Was nothing more than--I wouldn't be surprised if some coaches felt threatened by Fran and did not want to give him credit for what he is doing/what he has done here at Iowa.

Not once did I say I thought that was why coaches didn't want to give him credit... I said that I wouldn't be surprised.

As for when I said "I know I may sound like a Homer when I say that, but really... what other reason is there for some of the behavior that a few of these coaches have displayed?"

Maybe I could have worded it better, but I don't think a bunch of coaches have something against Fran. I was mainly talking about Izzo being so angry about Lick being fired and Iowa bringing in Fran... and Fran is actually turning this program around and doing what Lick couldn't.

To recap: I don't know if you quoted the wrong post or not, but I don't really know how you got all of that out of my post.

True, and I am kinda hoping Illinois makes a run and wins the CBI to retain Weber. I cannot imagine what a good coach could do at Illinois.

They would put together a couple of decent teams and leave - e.g. Lon Kruger, Bill Self...
