Anyone else nervous about an 05 letdown?

I think KF has learned from past season and will have these guys motivated next year!

I think we've seen a physical, mental and emotional toughness the last two seasons -- and especially the bowl games -- that I don't recall seeing in a long, long time in Iowa football. Yeah, the UNI game was far closer than it should have. But we still won.

I think the coaching staff has this group on a hard competitive edge. They believe they can beat any team in the country on any given day, yet know they'll have to work hard to do it. There are no gimmes.

So, no, I'm not worried about a letdown.

O-line doesn't concern me as much for the simple reason that most of our starters this year were out at one time or another, and KF and crew were shifting players around a ton before the bowl game this year, prepping them for next year.

Iowa this year reminds me of last years Alabama team. Next year we get a huge boost in the running game on offense to take some pressure off of Stanzi.

On defense we'll have a great secondary and a great OL sandwiched around unkown (for the most part) linebackers. Tarpinian looked good in his reps this season, as did Hunter. I think we'll be OK there.

IMO worst finish possible is 9-3 (with injuries), and best is 12-0 (with luck). My actual prediction is 11-1 with a possible loss to OSU.

most of the shifting were guys that are now gone.

Top 3 worries...

#1. OL
#2. Injuries... we overcame a lot this year but could we do it again?
#3. Northwestern... makes me worry every year....

NU is nearing the Clowns as the team I'd most love to put a good ol' a**-whipping on every year. Almost a toss-up.

I am not that worried...Kirk and his staff learn from mistakes...05 will not repeat itself. IF we lose it will be because of injuries (what worries me)...and the OL is not as worrisome as some to me...Reiff may have been our best olineman this year...Koeppel had reportedly beaten out Rafael in the spring...Gettis looks to be pretty solid...I feel pretty good...they just have to jel.

couldn't agree more- wish ida come up with that- great post hawkforce- imo

It was Outback Bowl.

And no, I am not. that year was an all new DL...two frosh and two soph...this year is best DL in the nation.

I have to bump this because there is now an article on the front page warning of exactly this?

The expectations for this year are going to be even higher, and we have an offensive line problem.

I am thinking we are ok, but Jon you said you were not, and now you are kinda saying differently, and now the boss is scared.
