Anyone else excited to see what we can do this Saturday?

I know it's folly to get too excited given how a game ended the previous week (see: 2011 against Pitt and the no-huddle that we never saw again). But with the talent this team has on offense, with the complete unknown of CJ....I'm pretty damn excited to see what the Hawks can do on Saturday. I'm also liking the fact that this game's on the road so there won't be any "outside" pressure on CJ or the coaching staff. They can feel comfortable doing what they want without fear of making the natives restless.

Can't wait for Sat!

Only if CJ starts.

Otherwise, I know the name of dat tune: Iowa struggles on offense; defense may or may not be enough to save the day against a(nother) lowly opponent.

I think CJ will start, and I'm very excited. My hopes that we will dominate an inferior team are officially up. I may regret that By 2:30 on Saturday, but it makes the rest of the week fun.

I am always excited to watch the hawks. I have come to accept over the last 7-8 years that this team, maybe due to the coaching and game prep, seems to play to the level of the competition. How can you explain some of the weird results like standing toe to toe at OSU last year and I know it is a different season but just laying eggs the first 3 games this year. Just totally owning Mich last year in the second half and clobbering Nebby at NE last year and then this year.

But I will be excited and I hope to see the offense use all its weapons, long medium and short passes, a mix of Weisman and I hope canzeri is 90%, punish them with power with the TEs and run game.

I am expecting mabin and king to lock down even more to allow the safeties and linebackers to zone and blanket the middle. I am expecting a great day from the DLine and a great tackling effort.

I thought the hawks tackled much better in the 2nd half last week vs Pitt 1st half and 2nd half of ISU.

I am excited to see our young WRs have a big day. Willies can torch these guys.

This is true. But it seems that every time we have the ability to take advantage, KF lacks the will. He would rather play the field position game of punting back and forth, running Weisman into a 9 man front, taking a knee when he has 2 TO's left, etc. Then hope we win it with defense in a 9-6 yawner.

I am excited for Saturday as well, and hoping we can keep building on a solid 2nd half last week. Would like to see running continue getting better as it did last week, and would like to see offense continue it's efforts in going down field.

It's a rivalry game, of course I am excited. Seriously though I always look forward to Saturday's in the fall, does not matter who we are playing or what's on the line. We are due to open a can of whoop *** on somebody, maybe it's Purdue.

To me, it's almost like starting a new season in a certain sense. We were so diametrically different in that 2nd half at Pitt that I have no idea what to expect at this point....no different than the start of the season.

I have been an Iowa fan under Kirk ferentz long enough to know not to get my hopes up for anything. He finds ways to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. If we see CJB for most of the game, I expect to be a happy camper.

Willies, T. Smith, Powell, Hillyer and even Vandeberg can torch these guys. Iowa has the makings for the best passing game, perhaps in the country. It needs to be utilized. Simple as that.

Whoa now..perhaps the best in the country?? Let's pump the breaks a bit.

I am excited...and quite nervous...about Saturday. We've gotten nothing but a peek at the potential. I need to see more than a full game of consistancy on both sides of the ball...against elevated competition... before I feel confident.

This Saturday would be a good start.

Go Hawks.

wow, I can not believe I forgot about that. Purdue is our most hated rival. Its the whole reason why Purdue had to be in the west division. Ooooo, I hate Purdue. I am excited now.

If CJ gets the nod (which he will) I am excited to see what he can do for an entire game. I think this is CJ's chance to win the starting job from Jake ... I get much more excited thinking about CJ behind center and the potential to throw the deep ball ... and his ability to handle check offs and go back to the long ball ... Sure, he may flip an interception or two along the way but I just want to see some excitement back in Iowa football and the Iowa offense!

I think CJ is going to make some great throws and that's going to allow Weisman to get over 100 yards for the day.

I really hope that's how it all plays out.
