Anybody on this board believe this?

"COACH FERENTZ: What I'm married to is what's going to work, to give us the best chance to win. That's what I'm married to."

I am serious. Does anyone believe this? If you do, please explain how you can believe this without being on drugs.

I don't believe it but maybe Ferentz thinks he recruits Stanford and Alabama level of players. Which clearly isn't true but what can you say about him that hasn't already been said. Maybe he is nutter than squirrel poo, who knows!

I think KF believes this and that he is coaching to that goal. I personnally dont believe he is coaching or managing the offensive philosophy of this team in a positive manner.

#1. KF and KOK and now GD are always good for causing two losses a year. I and my son have agreed for many years, since the 2005 close, exasperating losses to Mich at home in OT and the late collapse against NW the next week that KF's conservative philosophy on offense keeps us from sticking a fork in teams or keeping us close to win a game. The first six games of 2008 were a debacle for a team that could have won 10-11 games.

2. KF should know he is not getting the players he was early in his tenure, the word is out on Iowa underperforming, a big lack of skill players on offense. If he thinks his offense is working then he is not very good with statistics and trends (our offense usually is below average and cant make big 3rd downs).

I cant for the life of me understand why KF cant open it up on offense when he sees on average how poorly rated his offenses have been.

I've made a similar point that he's delusional and got scolded for it on here.

FreedComanche,

I didn't say he "was" I said "maybe", gotta choose your words carefully. I think he strongly believes in his style and how he wants the game to be played. I don't believe it can work with the players they have on this team or with Greg Davis as the OC. But what the heck do I know, I was excited about Todd Lickliter when he got hired as the head basketball coach! Yes, I am admitting that in public forum, I am stupid I know.

of course i agree with it. you do what you believe will work. do you think he is trying to lose?

I agree with the guy who took 9 years to get out of college. I also believe I've done pretty well day trading lateley. Check out CAK. Buy it. Please pump up the price more.

This is what I don't get about some of you guys. Why so careful about saying anything critical of ferentz? Especially after this season. There is something wrong with him. I realize he has no accountability because of the contract, but my God!!!! He acts like it's no big deal with how the season went. We were 114th in total offense and look at his lack of urgency responses today in the presser. He regularly makes decisions that make no sense. If it looks like a duck, quacks like a duck, waddles like a duck, it's highly probable a duck.

But of course, he really didn't say he was comfortable after the game last Friday. That was just something that was taken out of context. PPFFFFTTTT.....................................................

I think he is delusional, as I've said before. Your offense finished 114th in the nation. Oh...........we just have a few things to work on and I'm comfortable. I think I'm gonna give up on talking sense to some of you.

I don't think he is trying to lose, but I do think he is more interested in proving he is right and thumbing his nose at conventional wisdom, than he is making any changes whatsoever.

FreedComanche,

I choose my words carefully because I don't see the point and getting all worked up over something I have no control over. I think Ferentz runs a clean program, which to me is important. I think Ferentz wants to help these young adults become good men by building on the already strong character that their parents have already instilled in them. Problem is there aren't enough good quality athletes to go around. Again that is on recruiting, gotta recruit better quality athletes that will fit into Ferentz's system (follow his rules more like it). Ferentz needs to pull a Bielema and everytime a kid gets and offer from Stanford, go after him hard. I am not saying that all players that go to Stanford are going to be upstanding citizens but they run a similar style (except more successfully).

Again, as I said previously I don't think this system can work with these players or with Greg Davis but I am not going to tear him a new a-hole everytime they lose or in this case continually bring down this program because I can't do anything about it. If I could that might be different. If publicly critizing Ferentz mades you or anyone feel better about this bad situation, go right ahead this is a free country, or at least I am pretty sure it still is (except this is Jon Miller's site and they are his rules you must follow).

Ok, it seems you don't want to get emotionally involved because you think you have no control over any decisions being made at Iowa Football.

However, some of your taxes go to the University of Iowa. I realize that no taxes pay for the football program including salaries. But...........no University of Iowa, no Iowa football. Because of this, I want to express myself about the status of the team not just to express myself but to encourage people to stand up and *****. Enough people do this and eventually this will make in impact on the decision makers that matter - the big time boosters.

Two main things an average fan can do to influence change concerning a college football team:

1. Stand up and complain loudly

2. Stop buying tickets.

Buy doing this, you increase the chances that the boosters will step in and buy him out. Granted, probably won't happen for a few years because the buy out is so big.

LOL. I love watching people justify their hissy fits! The tax payer thing was a good angle, but no mention of Kurt's salary? C'mon bro, I know you're trying to establish yourself as a whiner with some esteem, but keep in mind I have seen it all before. You need some fresh material if you're going to WOW me.

I believe that he does what he thinks will be best.

The problem is that he is terribly wrong on what he thinks lately.

Nice sob story. First, you have nothing to base that claim on. Adam R comes to mind. Most on here will say AR did this and AR did that. Anyone who knows much about concussion knows that often the impulse control part of the brain gets impacted. We don't know the whole story, but a kid with his background who may have been trying to get his life right gets a concussion.....and is dumped. I don't know this anymore than you know that. If he really cared so much, why did he repeated throw AR into an angry MSU line with no even thought of doing something other than up the middle up the middle up the middle punt at that stage of the game. Stanzi gave a screen pass to a RB that was right in front of several MSU linebackers and he was facing the qb, not down field. Someone really screwed up on teaching a qb what not to do. You really don't see many D1 qbs make that kind of throw in that situation. AR got hit standing straight up facing the qb in front of linebackers. He was not expecting the throw.

KF gave Wienke so few chances to even get in a game to qb. Wienke was a model player. No one else took a snap. That is horribly insulting in games that were no longer winnable. Imagine how much Ruddock must feel about what the coaches think of him. People forget that Wienke and JVB were ranked equal on the depth chart going into OSU. We could discuss the assault charges where there was some type of cover up...

You seem to be confident of a clean program. Are you that sure? Clean compared to what? Where does being ranked 2nd in ESPN's arrest poll fit it? Bad police? What about rhabadu? Happens at that level all the time....right? I am not saying KF is not clean by NCAA standards. I'm saying they are not clean just because you think they are or that they are Iowa...

Much as I liked Bob Sanders, that guy was a head hunter. He knocked out a number of quarterbacks with hits to the head. Of course KF couldn't control that....right? There are different views on what being clean is.

What we should expect is a program clean of NCAA violations that are known violations. A program where coaches can coach the last 2 minutes. Where players don't get into THAT much trouble to be ranked with Miami. Where a team should be somewhat above average on a consistent basis in their conference after that many years. What is KF's B1G record?
