Anybody else notice that there was a Center in the game toward the end?

lol at someone arguing in favor of having McCabe in the game due to foul shooting.

McCabe's 75% foul shooting does not outweigh his terrible defense. He is truly an awful defender, just gets abused in the post.

If it's the last 30 seconds, maybe put him in, but not the last 5 minutes. In the last couple minutes go offense/defense, but having him defend the opposing center is like giving up.

Send an email to Coach McCaffery to order him to do this.

You can try and justify the lack of a C in the game late based on hyperbole but we have real life examples of when the hawks melted down late and we didn't have a C on the floor. Last night, Fran went big and stayed big and we didn't give up a large lead. Learn from it.

Send an email to Coach McCaffery to tell him to learn from it.

Ran away? Bro, I work. I don't have time to mess around on some message board with the likes of you. I had no idea Vin/Scorp was banned until I started posting again. His banning and my posting are purely coincidence. What exactly do you bring to the table?

Oh really?

Your first post in almost 11 months was this one.

Wild coincidence I guess and you must have been crazy busy at work for almost a year.

As I've said at least twice in other posts, Olaseni and Woodbury are not clutch free throw shooters. You will usually see McCabe on the floor in the last 5 to 6 minutes of every relatively close game, along with Marble, Gesell, White, and Oglesby (or Clemmons). McCabe has more experience and hits about 75% of his FTs, and is pretty decent in the last 4 minutes from the line as well. This is not a difficult concept to understand. McCaffery is playing it exactly right.

Nobody on this team is a clutch free throw shooter except for Roy. White is an automatic 1-1 at the line when it counts down the stretch (and that's if we're lucky b/c some nights he couldnt hit water if he fell out of a boat @ the charity stripe) and that's exactly what teams want when theyre trying to make a run/come back...Big O is not that bad at ft.'s either..he's just as good of a free throw shooter than anyone else on this team. We are just a baaaad free throw shooting team in general..did you see Mel's air-bank the other night? That was awful. We've got to be one of the worst in this category but i hope i am wrong. Anywhooo, either Adam or gabe HAVE to be in late in close games unless theyre in foul trouble. IMO.

Do you think McCabe plays good defense against opposing centers?

Do you think coaches are infallible?

Do you think message boards should exist, what's the point of discussion when the coaches are always right?

Do you realize if Fran listened to the many posters who were complaining about the terrible schedule prior to the season, we fans wouldn't be getting all jazzed up about the NIT?

Anybody else realize both centers are a liability at the charity stripe?

Do you realize that our lack of size has cost us a lot of games late, I don't know how many times I watched someone get a rebound over McCabe or Basabe that Olesani or Woody would have got? We get killed at the end of the game on the boards and the second opportunities have cost us..big.

I agree with you that they are both suspect at the line but Fran needs to sub them in and out for the situations.

If Woody or Gabe were in a close game in the last 3 minutes, they would be consistently targeted as the guys to foul. Also, another concept that is not difficult to understand, is that you need ball handlers in close games the last few minutes.

JO is not a confident ball handler and should only be on the court late in games if we need to make a come back since he's allegedly our 3 point assassin. Clemmons has been scaring me and doesn't need to be on the court late when it counts either IMO. It seems like lately that whenever he touches the ball its a turnover waiting to happen.

Aaaaand BOOM goes the dynamite!!

2012-13 Big Ten College Basketball Team Statistics - ESPN

We were 2nd in the conference at the free throw line, and yes...Gabe or Woody need to be in late.

Word dawg.

Word dawg.

Not to mention how the Michigan St comeback at the BTT tourney was the same thing. How many dunks did we give up with our bigs out with a guard driving the lane because we had nobody inside to intimidate the shot? I can think of 3 in the last 6 minutes of the game.

Real knowz real yo. Gotta quote this again...that's why Franny makes the big pesos.

Ps.- I still dont get why he does a Mr. Davis and does a complete line change after the start of the first half. Mind-boggling considering these are 19-21 year athletes who practice and prepare for games for 4-5 years....shiz Mike G. has a 'stress reaction' (whatever that is??) and he played 19 mins. the other night. I love Fran but he he can be confusing..

On another random side note, why hasnt anyone like Scott hawk done a video compilation of fran's temper tantrums when his face turns burgundy? I'd do it but im a moron and worthless w/ computers.

Adam and especially Gabe wouldve sent a few of those shots into the 3rd row or redirected their shot....but hey Zach was in there bangin' and drawing charges...

Dont forget the eye rolls....and how he has his hands tuck in his armpits so he doesn't haul off and hit someone.

Jo is actually one of our best ballhandlers and also one of, if not, our best passers.......

He has 18 turnovers for the season......

Now all he has to do is get over his three slump.....

:D
