Anyone have any news with how Ingram is doing this summer. Really curious about this incoming freshmen.
My sense of things is that Clemmons will bring a little more on the offensive side and that Ingram is more of a defensive player and ball distributor. Just know that Fran is not bringing in any players that he doesn't feel will contribute to making the team better.
Sheagle is closer than BigD. Ingram will not be asked to distribute. He'll be brought in to wreak havoc on defense and collapse zone defenses off the dribble. He will see fewer minutes than Clemmons (in their early years) and will be asked to do less with the ball in his hands. He has a similar skill set to Eric May with a higher ceiling. Possible redshirt. Optimum career model>>>Pierre Pierce (minus the obvious).

He's fed up with Penn state.
this is what i have always thought...but ingram has 2 places that are below may...1) height - this is big because unless ingram grows he really can only play the 1 or 2 (i think he is only 6'2) & 2) shot - may can shoot the 3 ball better and ingram needs to add that or he will struggle as his height will make it hard if all he can do is go to the basket.
i feel ingram being told he could stay and didnt have to come to ic for summer class and ptl and practice meant 1 of 2 things. 1) he is so good he will come in and start so fran doesnt think he needs to be here. 2) he isnt going to play much and might redshirt so fran said he could stay. of those 2 i would say the second is more likely. he has a very flawed game compared to the other frosh.
ingram and meyer could very well get redshirted. and if they do that is still 10 guys to rotate. and it would put the classes much more even. it would leave us with next yr being...
frosh - 3
soph - 4
jr - 3
sr - 3
that gives a good spread. allows for easy absorbtion if players leave early as we get better and development of frosh as they wont be expected to come in and set the world on fire...they can just play and if they do well it will be a bonus.
What really separates May and Ingram is May has a lower BB IQ and Ingram has a very high BB IQ. After that, you are correct, the plus' and minus' equal out.He does have one of those games that could end up not translating as well at the next level. He scores a bit like a power forward. Because he is strong, he can get away with that in high school, but he could get swatted in the B1G.
That being said, the May comparison is a good one, but Ingram has far better latteral mobility. So, he might be a more effective trapping guard.
I don't know about those minutes per game. Fran has publicly said he has the depth and horses to run like he wants to now. I see fewer minutes per player than he has had to run the first couple years. More uptempo with more substitutions. If Clemmons and Ingram can be pests on the defensive end they will get minutes. We have enough firepower offensively.
