Any of you use or have used a long putter?

They all have the access to the same technology, but they still have to hit it the same way: with nerves making it all the more hard.

This putter takes the nerves out of it. It's not the same as having a driver with the newest technology. If you can't square the clubface on a regular basis, you are still going to hit it like ****. If you can't hit the ball square and on line with a putter, that is your fault. You shouldn't have something manually allowing you to do that.

Yeah because it took the nerves out of Adam Scott the last few holes.

Belly putters should and probably will be outlawed on tour. Nerves are so important in the game of golf and the belly putter takes that away b/c it keeps it on a level swing plane. It's an unfair advantage and the all time greats like Gary Player have been talking about it for years now. Adam Scott is a GREAT ball striker but has never been close to winning a major. He goes to the belly putter and all of a sudden he is finishing 2nd and should be winning majors. He was a horrid putter which is the most important part of the game.

All these guys have similiar drivers, irons, etc....so comparing that to the putter is a dumb argument

Interesting that once his nerves hit him he couldn't find the fairway or hit a green. Would have been nice to see those nerves on the green, too (and yes I know he missed the last putt).

His putting wasn't the problem the whole day and it's not like the putter puts the ball in the hole for him. Still has to read the green. But it does help him.

His problem was the nerves affected his irons. Weird how that works, huh?

Hawkeye11en1 is correct. This putter, when hinged to the body to affect swing plane is an unfair advantage.

The example of a larger driver face makes no sense, as the driver face doesn't affect the fact that it still needs to be swung, and there is no assistance with the swing plane.

Tell me this then Mr. Expert, if I was to buy a brand new Taylor Made driver and a brand new Callaway that the 2 drivers are exactly the same. No differences in them at all.

Both of you are stuck on swing planes and the club face being square to the ball and not at all grasping the differences in clubs.

With your same swing? You might hit one 10 yards further if you hit them both the EXACT same way with the exact same swing. But I bet that is hard for you to do. But, I bet if there were something that allowed you to have the exact same swing path for every swing, that might allow you to hit it not only further, but a lot straighter.

Strange.

I'm sick of seeing this thread on the front page which leads me to believe that this hasn't been said yet:

Long putters are for *******. /thread.

So I can hit one 10 yards farther? Because the club is different THATS UNFAIR.

Holy hell you are dumb.

Then try both those clubs out and find the one that you like more. You sound like a *******, dude.

Yup I will I will take the one that is 10 yards farther because it will give me an advantage. But people like you will ***** and moan because it gives an advantage. You must have seriously whined a lot as a kid. Keep crying it will take you far in life.

I have never bitched about any technology giving an advantage. Quote me where I said that. I couldn't care less that you hit it ten yards farther. I'll go out and buy that club if I wanted to hit it further. The fact is, people who hit it further and straighter usually have a better swing - or at least more consistent - and hit it further with or without the technology. I could buy ANY driver out there and still not hit it past my buddy because he is just a better golfer and is bigger than I am.

The problem here is your lack of knowledge of the game. Or your lack of knowledge in general. Most likely both.

Adam Scott and Ernie Els are ranked 80th and 82nd, respectively, in putting average. Webb Simpson is 2nd. The overwhelming majority of the game's top putters are using traditional putters. It's not like the belly/chest/chin putters are all clustered at the top.

Again, why is this blatantly unfair advantage only turning up now? Nobody really seemed to care, as long as those players with long putters weren't winning. Where has the outrage been for 30 years?

This just smells like a bunch of guys whining because players who have been made fun of for years are now the ones laughing all the way to the bank at recent majors.
