Not unheard of as in he's a 3-star prospect, but I seriously hadn't heard his name before today.

Agreed. If Fran can bring in someone like Cartwright that late in the game to bottom of the barrel Iowa, you have to think he wouldn't sign someone in the '12 class if they didn't see something in him.
