Twitter is blowing up right now about Iowa State offering Morgan. I know we only have 1 scholarship available for 2013 but part of me was hoping Fran was saving it for Morgan. I loved watching Morgan in the state tournament and I am partial to legacy Hawks.

Thoughts?

Dammit!!!! Jeremy Morgan not Anthony.

Jeremy has a lot of upside for D1 b-ball and would be a good get for the Clones. Hopefully Jeremy (with his father's influence) will wait until the end of the summer/fall before making an official decision. At that time Fran should definitely know if he wants to offer the remaining scholarship to Morgan.
Personally I'd hate to lose Jeremy to the Clones especially since he is from IA City.
 
Is he worth the only scholarship available? Who else out there, if anyone, is better, that the Hawks have a realistic chance at getting?

Jok is an option, if healthy.

I'm guessing Fran won't accept a commitment from anyone until late summer or early fall unless one of our top targets wants to commit (E.C.).
 
Nothing against Morgan, but I hope Coach McCaffery has his sights set higher. Is Morgan in anyone's top 150?

I have not seen any ratings on him yet but he keeps getting better and better offers. If you have ever seen him in action he is fun to watch, a Marble type of player.
 
i think with the 1 scholly there is a heirarchy that looks kind of like:

1) matthews
2) jok
3) morgan

when it comes to the three that i think are major targets of iowa.
 
hummm, though decisions. i'll trust Fran's judgement on this one. would love to keep a born and raised hawk in the fold, but you can't turn someone down if a better fit comes along.
 
I don't get why everyone has Matthews so high on their list, is it because he has 4 stars on the recruiting sites? A goal of Frans should be to lock down the state borders so I have Jok & Morgan over Matthews. If Iowa is needing a 2 both can play that position.

Morgan also reminds me of Marble except that he already has a better 3 pt shot.
He could very easily end up being 6'8" by the time he enters college and as mentioned before he is just beginning to tap his true potential.

I trust Fran's judgement in regard to the remaining scholarship and however things play out both the Hawks and Morgan have a very bright future.

Any other year and Morgan would probably already be a Hawkeye. Until I see a healthy Jok, I’m going with Morgan.

Matthews is a better prospect than Morgan. THE goal of Fran should be to gather as much talent as possible (while staying within the rules of the NCAA), I don't think I could care less about what state the player in question lives.

Do you really think Fran should take a lesser player simply because he lives in Iowa?
 
That video was much much better than anything I have seen ok Jok. Is Morgan a premiere athlete or not? I have not seen much video of him, but he looked very good from those clips.

What do you want people to say? Yes? Most people haven’t seen Matthews and Morgan play actual games, so the reason why they have Matthews higher is because the recruiting services and Fran McCaffery do. Seems like a no brainer to me.

I’ve never understood this mentality though. You take the best players available.

Good athlete who is only going to get better. Currently is 6' 6" and has an incredible wing span. Should be a very good WR on the football team this fall and competed in the high jump for West this past spring.

Currently has offers from Ia State, Creighton, UNI, Drake, Weber State, and Rice. The list will grow significantly by the end of summer if he doesn't accept the offer from Ia State prior to then.

That's nonsensical. Why on earth should "locking down the state borders" matter?
