Data…

Iowa excels at going 8-5 with the occasional 10-4 season.
For the money this program has available, winning more than you lose in the B1G for over a decade straight is out performing almost everyone. I wouldn't trade it for most of the other 13 teams not on the list but you do you. If you looked at NIL dollars per win extrapolated back over the past decade (assuming the same level of NIL before it was a thing), Iowa is definitely at the top of the pile. And we're one wrong coaching hire away from being nebraska or Purdue.

Kinda crazy when you think of the other teams ranked below Iowa on this list. Yeah, talkin' about you, Michigan. Didn't Wisky have a super-long run of winning seasons until last season?
Not sure Iowa's streak of 12 will get to 13 after the '25 season...tough schedule ahead.

Kirk has done a good job and no one can question that. Did he make mistakes? Sure, what coach doesn’t?

Kirk is getting older and if he wants to keep continuity in the program and allow one of his assistants to take over the captains chair then he needs to move aside and let some else take the reins.

Michigan does not scare me.
In my estimation, Ferentz is 8-9 against Michigan. I count the COVID Big 10 championship that Michigan chickened out of as a win.

9-8 against Penn State.

Obviously, the record against OSU is not....not good. But I can live with it.

The only team that is triggering to me (outside of Iowa State as they should have no wins against Iowa) is Wisconsin. Ferentz is 10-13. Mainly because those wins came in chunks and streaks for Wisconsin. 3 and 4 game win streaks since 2010. And it sucks, because generally, I have no reason to dislike Wisconsin. I have no distaste for them like I do Minnesota. Heck, I kind of even 'like' Wisconsin.

7 and 8 against Michigan State is a little infuriating. But, we just don't play them as often with the realignment. I feel like there's 2-3 more wins against them had they been in the Heros Division, or whatever nonsense that was. That Big 10 championship loss to them stings a bit too.

It is a new playing field. But, I think one that Iowa's fortune of being in the Big 10 and having been quite relevant at times will keep them in the mix.
