Anthony Hitchens

He is the worst of the 3 LBs. he is out of position more than the other two. He isn't very fundamentally sound. He is an athletic freak and that is why he gets all the tackles he does but there is a reason he got benched last year. He could make a nfl roster but he will have to clean a lot up. Kirksey is the guy with the best chance because of speed, ability to cover and he is a sure tackler. Kirksey is that LB/safety type that backs up others and plays specials.

all 3 will be playing pro ball

This is the best post in the thread. Cut and dry. All three of Iowa's linebackers bring something different to the table. Hopefully they can put it all together this year in order to dominate.

All three will have their chance in the pros. I love how they all seem to have a sense of pride in doing whatever it takes for the team. That mentality will serve them well in the future. Personally, I think Morris will be in the NFL the longest. He has a nice combination of attributes that will all serve him well at the next level. He's played a lot of football and I still don't think he's playing up to his potential. When he does it will be fun to watch. He doesn't get the credit he deserves.

They all are also Butkus award candidates. Any one of the 3 would be a great choice. I just hope they don't take votes from eachother.

That might be a stretch. If Abdul Hodge, AJ Edds Jeramiah Hunter couldn't cut I'm not sure these 3 can. I would rather have all 3 of those guys over the current 3. That's just me might be splitting hairs. I hope they play lights out this yr and prove me wrong.

Hodge did play in the NFL. He had surgeries on both knees war early on and this hurt his career big time.

Hopefully the defensive line will be improved enough so that these guys can put it all together and dominate.

I think morris is the worst of the 3 lbs. Morris has problems not only in coverage but also he over pursues all the time and gets caught up in the wash.

All 3 of those made it to an NFL team.

Last year was tough on the all the LB's because of the defensive line. I think this year we will see more of what we expect them to be.

There's a reason Jim Reid was brought on board to work with Lavar Woods and the LBs. last years group was as poorly coached linebacker trio as I have seen during the KF era. Poor tackling taking bad angles making incorrect reads inability to get off blocks can't be blamed on the defensive line and were a constant problem for us last season. Of the three Kirksey has the type of next level talent. I like Morris I love the fact that he's living out his dream of being a Hawkeye but I honestly can't think of one other Iowa MLB in the past 13 years I would take him over.

Nice of him to say that. He's slower, not nearly as strong and place with less intensity than Angerer did.

Morris is a bit bigger this year, I think, so he may be strong enough anyway. I'm hoping that the defense is at least an average defense for the Bigten. I'm not expecting them to be all that fast but most Bigten defenses not named OSU are not (not sure if Michigan is back yet on defense).

Yes Edds Hodge and Hunter had cups of coffee in the NFL. I think Edds is in NE now trying again. But none of them have made it made it. Being on the active 53 for an entire season and if not starting at least having a role on special teams and playing some. None of them have done that. Maybe Edds can this yr we'll see. I don't see the current 3 hawks doing anything more then that if that either. Wouldn't hurt my feelings at all if they prove me wrong. In fact I'm rooting for them to.
