I wonder what the sentiment is amongst the fan base on whether would have brand new stadium say west of 218 off of Melrose or keep going with what we got. Guessing the money people want to stay with what we got. Can't even fathom the bill for a brand new stadium or who would pay for it.

That would be inconvenient for the students if they ever wanted to start going to games again. Sure, you could set up shuttle buses to bus students to the stadium, but those could get crowded and stuck in traffic at game time.
On the other hand, it could help drive the building of new facilities out west.

He has no problem throwing millions of dollars at bad coaches and female employees he abuses. Maybe he should have thrown some of that money at these tailgating spots for football fans? I guess the PR firm didn't float that idea by Gutless Gary, so it probably never dawned on his dumb ass.

I loathe Barta.
But he’s not guilty of abusing women. He’s guilty of being a bumbling idiot, a poor manager of people, and allowing himself to be put in a lose-lose situation by scorned lovers who he never documented any conversations with. Not even so much as a post-it note.
Abuse didn’t cost the U and it’s insurance company millions, Barta being a fucking idiot did.

There's too much history and heritage at Kinnick Stadium. I think it's safe to say that the vast majority of fans (myself included) would strongly oppose a new stadium at a different location.

There is an elderly lady that has a large grass lot west on Melrose just east of Mormon Trek. Was by there a few weeks ago and see there was a for sale sign up at her house. Could be another casualty if that land goes with the house. That is a larger area.
Yeah that is a DF idea. Gary Barta controlling Iowa City. AD should run the town.

This discussion took place around 20 years ago and that was the overriding sentiment. Thus the South end zone rebuild and new press box.
If they hadn't killed tailgating in the University lots, much of the vibe could have been preserved. I'll never forget walking through West stadium lot in the fall of 2010 (I think it was) and seeing so many empty spaces. Unheard of just a few years earlier. The fun police did their damage.
